Sections 2, 3, 4 and 5 are PL OK.

Do whichever project you fancy. They're both good!

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/childchristopher_05_morris.mp3 - 34:16 - Ready for PL!

I want to finish this up as I have 4 projects open at the moment, plus I noticed that I haven't completed a project since October last year!

Going back to 'ague'. This is one of those words that I thought I knew how to pronounce but obviously didn't! When I come to think of it, I have probably never heard the word spoken before. Another one is 'dais', that I believed I was pronouncing correctly in this file ('die-ess' instead of 'day-ess'), but then I looked it up an it seems I am not! I am not sure I want to correct it as it comes up a lot in later chapters, but in Phra you'll hear that I have got it right!

Hi both,

I have just noticed this from the PL on another project. Is it correct? I'd love to cut down those 10 second silences if we are allowed to to :)

"It was decided a while ago that all sections should end with only 5 seconds of silence, rather than 5s for shorter and 10s for longer sections"

Yes it's true , the new versions of listening software seem to be OK with that . I haven't worried in mid projects though, I didn't feel it was worth re editing the files

First: part 6 is PL OK.

As for ague, don't worry about it. I'll admit that I know it from reading Keats and Shakespeare, which doesn't really do much for my street cred! It's definitely not something that comes up on a day-to-day basis. Dais: it's one word, and I don't think that's going to detract from the book! But ah, the things learned from recording!

If you want to push ahead with this project, that's fine. Just upload what ya got.

The quote about the ending silence says 'It was decided'. Do you happen to know who decided, or why? I heard this vague thing floating around, but not any reasons or consensus or something more concrete.

Thanks, I won't change now, I'll start with the next project. I must confess that I dream of a world without introductions to every file, as well, but I don't think that is going to happen!

Ready for PL! Two more sections to go (there are only 10, not 11). I believe the Simon the Squire will be back soon - perhaps we'll get an explanation for his strange behaviour.

Really? I like introductions. Perhaps I'm in a minority!

Part 7 is PL OK. Two notes (deletion, not rerecording) for part 8:

11.13-11.18, repetition:
...and she saw and she saw a dark mass come spreading down over the bent...

30.53-30.58, self-correction:
And still she spake nought, and held it and held hand in hand.

I had a look at the Newcastle list in an idle moment earlier, and you've put a pretty sizable dent in it!

Thanks, I'll get those corrections done with any that are needed for 9 & 10. They will be arriving in a day or so.

Actually, after Christopher and Phra we are up to number 15 on the Newcastle list (excluding non-PD and those we already have in the catalogue), with 5 more to go. The next one is the Fates of the Princes of Dyfed, about which I am just a little bit nervous. Lots of Welsh, though there is a guide to pronunciation at the end of the book.

I'm in, if you want me! Although I won't be the most stringent of DPLs when it comes to the Welsh.

I had just glanced at the Newcastle list and not actually added up the numbers. 15 is pretty impressive.

Part 8 corrected and uploaded and the last two parts ready for PL

I recorded these a while ago, so it was quite pleasant editing, having forgotten what would happen next. Simon does reappear in Chapter 35, but his behaviour is even more inexplicable than earlier!

On the Newcastle list, there is a method to my madness. I've been working through from the beginning of the list, but skipping those that are not PD (Barringer) and those that we already have as solos or collabs. The Fate of the Princes is next up and it is #15 in the series. After that we have four more:

19. The Roots of the Mountains, William Morris
20. Nada the Lily, H. Rider Haggard
21. Jaufry the Knight and the Fair Brunissende, translated by Alfred Elwes
22. The Spirit of Bambatse, H. Rider Haggard

For now it's back to Phra!

Sections 8, 9 and 10 are PL OK, and you, my good man, have finished another project! Congrats!

I thought you were working your way down the Newcastle list but skipping ones that were already in the LV catalogue. Perhaps it's too soon to ask, but what are you going to do when you've finished with the PD Newcastle titles? And may I PL?

I see you've covered most of the Morris. I don't know Elwes, but I'll be curious to find out what you make of the Haggard.

I'll delete section 11 then and start the wheels rolling
