Section 88 done!

Sherri
Thank you for this wonderful reading! I have just two minor items for your attention:
Section 88
00:00 the intro silence should be between 0.5 and 1.0 seconds. This one is about a second and a half. (I know there's a bit of a microphone bump at about 0.9 seconds, but I'm not counting that :) )

12:08 The silence at the end should be about 5 seconds. This one is almost 6.5 seconds.

Both of these are really minor technical details. Your reading is perfect! Thank you.

Penumbra wrote: February 14th, 2018, 7:08 pm Section 15: A fine reading, Raj. Thank you for this. I have just a few technical items for your attention, all pretty simple to correct.

00:00 There should be an intro silence of between 0.5 and 1.0 seconds. This is to compensate for some mp3 players that cut off the first bit of the recording.

11:07.3 to 14:29 The volume for this section is considerably less than the volume of the rest of the recording, which listeners will notice. If you boost the amplitude of just this section by 7 db then the entire recording will have a consistent volume. Take care to boost only the section between the times I have listed. The rest of the recording is fine as is.

14:36 The silence at the end of the recording should be about 5 seconds long (say between 4.5 and 5.5 seconds). The silence here is a bit under 4 seconds.

These are all minor items but fixing them will make for an improved listener experience. The reading itself is wonderful. Thank you.
Hi Tom,
Here's the version with the modifications you advised.
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/goldengemsoflife_015_allen_128kb.mp3
Length is 14:40.
Please feel free, to suggest another recording of the whole chapter, to make it all uniform to listen.
Thanks, Raj.

Oh dear. Something seems to have gone wrong. Now the entire file is of an even loudness but the whole thing is too quiet. There is no need to re-record anything. The recording is fine, just not loud enough.

If you are using Audacity as your editor, then take this new version of the file, select the amplify effect, and set the amplify amount to +19. That will increase the entire file by 19 db, which will be just right.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Tom,
Here's the amplified version (by 19dB):

I generally use the mp3 gain, which I could have forgotten in the previous version. :?
This time I amplified in Audacity itself, as you suggested.
Please see if it's ok.
Thanks, Raj.
PS: I must appreciate you, for your patience, and guidance!

Thanks Lynne, for your patience.
Generally, I use Audacity. But I used some other software, which led to some confusions.
But I learnt some new things :)
