Hello Francesco and congratulations for your first contribution. I just listened to the whole story and I really really liked it. :9: The ending was really surprising and also a bit creepy. Also, your narrative qualities are quite wonderful, luckily you are not reading too fast for me to follow the story. I learnt Italian in school, but it's been quite a few years already, so it's getting a bit rusty. ;)

I always thought that Deledda was writing in the Sardic dialect, but I was pleasantly surprised that it all was in standard Italian, apart from the letter  that was a bit more difficult to understand. Do you speak Sardic ?

Well, all in all, the text is super well read and there are no textual errors to really mention. I only have a few technical notes to make, which I would like you to correct still. It's only some minor details, nothing that is difficult to edit, so don't worry. The story is really good as it is.

> at the beginning we only leave about 0.5-1 second of silence, you have 1.5. It’s not a tragedy, I only mention it so it won’t get even longer ;) (our standard is: at the beginning 0.5-1 second / at the end: 5 seconds)

> at 7:57-8:00: – before “neppure il veterinario”: the pause is a bit too long here, it seems strange for a listener to wait so long for the story to continue. I would cut out 2 seconds here, so it sounds more fluent

> at 21:55: “mori coraggiosamente” – stumble and repeat, can be cut out once

> at 25:55: “1878” – there is a longer pause here which can be cut out, to have the whole number more close together

For the rest: perfect, as I already said. :) Only one other minor thing, I think sometimes I hear a chair creaking, it's not that disturbing and one can understand everything, but maybe you could use another chair next time  The microphone picks up every little sound, so one has to sit still during recording. ;)

One final thing: Don't forget to change the file-name when you re-export to mp3 and upload to the correct MC folder.

> you uploaded to the wrong folder (kitty), the MC for this project is “icequeen

> also the file naming convention for each project is mentioned in the very first post, here it should have been:
msw019_[work's title]_[author's last name]_[your initials]_128kb (so in your case: msw019_damabianca_deledda_fc_128kb)

Great job, Francesco ! Could you tell us by which name you want to be registered, so we can open up your reader page ? It can be your real name or whatever you wish.

Have a good start in the weekend ! And thank you again for this wonderful story, I hope to hear more from you. Deledda would definitely be a good choice for a solo. So far we only have one book by her in our catalogue: Canne al vento.

Also if you like poetry, currently we are doing Dante's poems in Italian as a group project, maybe you want to read a few in there as well: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=55387

Good morning Kitty,

thank you for your help !

I fixed all of the points you recommended and I managed to erase some creaks from the chair too,
the ones that don't overlap with the voice recording.

I'll be very careful next time, of course, I'll sit on another chair  !

I have uploaded the new file with the name you elaborated,
msw019_damabianca_deledda_fc_128kb.mp3, to icequeen.

The link is at
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw019_damabianca_deledda_fc_128kb.mp3

I would like to use my real name,
Francesco Carzedda,
for my volunteer's page.

I hope I did it right

My compliments, ad maiora !

Francesco

Hello again
I fixed all of the points you recommended and I managed to erase some creeks from the chair too, the ones that don't overlap with the voice recording.
ok I spot checked the few things I told you to correct and they are all fine. However, while erasing chair creaks, you now have a recording about 20 seconds shorter than the previous. That means you deleted a few parts here and there.

When you do that, please, it would be extremely helpful to note down the exact time stamp for the prooflistener to find back where you did it. You see, I need to check if you did not by error erase a bit of the sentence as well as the creaking. It can always happen.

Now to be on the safe side I need to listen to the entire half hour recording again. :( And this is very time-consuming, even if the story is enjoyable and well narrated.

Something else I noticed right away: your ending is too abrupt, you need to leave 5 seconds of silence, not break off immediately. I think in your previous file you had the 5 seconds in, otherwise I would have told you immediately. Can you please insert those 5 seconds and reupload before I re-listen to it all again ? I will probably do that on Monday and let you know if it is PL ok then. :)
I'll be very careful next time, of course, I'll sit on another chair  !
 good idea

great thanks, I opened your reader page which can be found here: https://librivox.org/reader/12360
here you can see all the projects you signed up for, and the sections you claimed or have finished.

Once Nastya has updated the MW, you will see this project appear on your reader page. :)

More on Monday, please reupload with the 5 seconds at the end. You can use the exact same file name you just used, it's the correct one. It will replace the previous file then.
If you remember at what points you erased the chair creaking that would save me time, but I guess that is too difficult to remember. I'll listen to it again on Monday then.

Good luck with your next recordings, maybe I'll see you over in Dante :)

Dear Sonia,

I uploaded the file again ,
which I have listened to just now.

I added the five seconds at the ending,
and now it is 13 seconds shorter than
the first uploaded, before your corrections
(I corrected the time length in the original post with the description).

Considering that I erased two pauses, one repetition, the creaks
and some further pauses I noticed while listening again,
I dare recommend you not hear it again
as 13 seconds seem to match with that all.

A friend of mine have listened too and would have notice
if some words had lacked (he is from Nuoro as Grazia Deledda was :-) ).

This is the link:
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw019_damabianca_deledda_fc_128kb.mp3

I wish you a happy and creative weekend

With my compliments again

Francesco
