Hi Barbara,

So sorry about that...the checker utility puts it at 90.1dB which I thought was within acceptable range. I have de-amplified it though, and here it is...checker showing it at 89.1dB. Should I de-amplify further, and what is the optimum target?

Linda:

Around 89 db is what I aim for. The target "range" for Librivox is between 86-92 db. That is the range to which the Checker is calibrated.

That's fine, Linda. The volume wasn't very high but I wasn't sure if you had an mp3gain type utility so decided to mention it. PL OK.

PL OK. Todd, you mentioned your "home town" being mentioned in the text (but I don't know if that was Section 9 or maybe 10 or 11). If your home town was "Gloucester, Mass." I was surprised to hear it pronounced after the English fashion. Even if it wasn't, I was still surprised.

Best,

Barbara

Glaw-ster is how it is pronounced in Massachusetts - and further west is Worcester pronounced as wou-ster. I'm from 15 miles away from Gloucester in Ipswich, where John Winthrop is mentioned in the text as having lived - his house is (was?) a museum there.

I really enjoyed these chapters - explains a lot!

Thanks, Todd

Thanks Devorah. Another nice, crisp reading. I hopped in and PLed this before Philip had a chance of entering it in the MW. I have marked it PL OK.

Thank you, Devorah!

Thank you, Barbara!

Note to Barbara: I have recorded sections 30 and 31 and expect to finish editing them by the first of the year. Section 30 will probably edit out to around 50-55 min. 31 to around 30-35 min.

Have a joyous holiday season and many thanks,

Philip
