[quote="DrPGould"]Larry:

Sections 40 and 54 are PL-OK! Nicely done.

One small thing in Section 12--at 11:00 the word "the" is inserted before the phrase torpid ease.

In Section 16, at 0:14 I heard "Listen to my lute" instead of "Listen, my lute"
at 0:52 I heard "and as fierce" instead of "as fierce"
In Section 37 at 0:13; 0:37, 0:48 and 1:04 the word "I" is omitted in front of the phrase "do not envy God."

Wow, good catch on 37! Major goof. The others are minor, but easy fixes, so all above sections have been corrected and are Ready for Spot PL.

I'm also marking Section 54 with a note. I caught this just after I uploaded the files, but couldn't fix it right then --- the ourtro needs the end of book conclusion. "End of Challenge, by ..." I'll let you know when I have that fixed..

Thanks for everything!

Wonderful! I've added you to the LibriVox catalog, and assigned this section to you.
Just click on your name in the MW and you will be taken to your personal LV Catalog page.

Let me know if you have any questions.
And, welcome to LibriVox :hmm:

Thanks, Mark!

I like to take a short listen to new readers. In checking this, the specs are good except that the ending silence is too long at 7 secs LV specifies 5. I would clip out the first second that has a lot of noise in it, and the last second which also has a bump or click.

I listened to just the first few seconds of the recording, and it sound nice. The only issue is the you've misread the title of the poem as "Carousel" which is a type of merry-go-round. The title is "Carousal," a wild party or time from the more familiar verb "carouse."

I'll let our able PL listen to the rest and give you the official report.

Thanks again for your contribution.

Mark:

Let me add my Welcome to Librivox to those you have already received! Let me also echo our BC's comments...the file is technically spot on except for the ending silence.

At Librivox, unless the proof listening (PL) of a project is marked "word perfect" the people I know who PL do not listen for every word. However, when PL-ing poetry where rhythm and rhyme-scheme are inseparable in conveying the poet's message, the addition of an extra syllable can interrupt the rhythm, and a mis-pronunciation can damage the rhyme.

With those considerations in mind, this was an excellent reading. Your voice and phraseology were very pleasant to hear.

There are just a few small changes....

I echo our BCs comments with respect to the word "Carousal". In addition to the title the word occurs at 2:00. (The word "carouse" occurs at 2:51 of the poem. Just add- al on the end and you've got it.

at 0:30 I heard my warm insatiable energy : I expected insatiate energy

at 2:49 the word "boughs" is pronounced with a long "O"....to rhyme with carouse at 2:51 should probably be pronounced bows (as a bend from the waist that a servant might give to a monarch). Ordinarily--pronunciation issues are not mentioned, except in poetry.

Again, a fine reading. I look forward to hearing more of your reading here at Librivox.

Many thanks,

Philip

Section 6 is PL-OK! Your corrections were seamless. Nice Job! Don't worry about that "kinda dumb" feeling. We're all volunteers here doing the best we can. Just this afternoon, in another project I'm reading, I posted that I had uploaded a section I had just finished reading, and then didn't put the link in the message. Sheesh! Things happen........

Many thanks,

Philip

I see Philip has already listened to this. He's right, it is easy to make these goofs. I've got to correct a couple of mine where got the section number wrong!

You are off to an excellent start! Feel free to pick a few more to read.
