Here are some videos to walk you through:

Once you have those set on your computer, they will stay that way until you change them, so it is usually a one-time fix.

Thank you.

Just a couple of things I'm noticing straight away before Helen listens:
The file is just a little on the quiet side. Our goal is 89 dB, bit we can work with anything between 86 and 92... Your file is 85.5. You could amplify by up to 4 dB. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_z607awyLw

When you re-upload the file, please rename it: greatbirthdays_06_olcott_128kb.mp3

The other technical specs are now OK

Hi again, Lynnet!

please don't get tired of me!

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/greatbirthdays_06_olcott_128kbmp3.mp3

here's the file but I think the amplification was not OK. every time I moved the cursor to the right to go to 5.0, the OK button would not get lighted.
The other technical specs are now OK

Thank you. I am certainly not getting tired of you. We were all new once, and there is a lot to learn. I like that you are persevering -- a lot of people give up!

Sometimes a file has what we call 'spikes'. This is where some parts -- maybe only a word or two -- are louder than the rest and preventing amplification, or enough anyway. When this happens, we can use the compressor effect, which squashes everything to make the quiet bits louder and the loud bits quieter. You can use this more than once on a file, but I have found 3 to be the limit. After that, it doesn't seem to have any effect.
I did this to your file and brought it up to 87.9 dB, which is within the acceptable range.

I also noted you still haven't quite got the file name right. I find the best thing is to copy and paste from the first post, then just change the file number.

I fixed both these things on your file, so you don't need to do anything unless there are reading edits.

sect 6 December 2 Dom Pedro the Second, the Magnanimus, the Best Republican in Brazil

PL
There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording,

is it possible to add a few seconds to the end?

Great Reading Job
