Moods by Louisa May Alcott (1832 - 1888).

"Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus." Emerson. This quote opens the story of Sylvia, an intelligent and "unreasonable" 19th century young woman, who has to choose between the two men who love her. But every choice has consequences. This is the first serious book for adults by the author of the best-selling "Little Women". It is as lively and sharp. Perfect for the same fans, and for fans of George Eliot who wrote much about the same topics. - Summary by Stav Nisser. ( Stav Nisser.)

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/28203
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Stav,
It appears that nobody has claimed any of the chapters yet, so if Chapter #1 is still available, I'd like to record it. I'm still a semi-rookie, having only worked on 1 other project (LMA's "Jo's Boys", in which I read as 2 minor characters with only a few lines each), and it has been several months, but I am excited to get back into the swing of things with a larger role. If Chapter 1 is already taken, I can do another.
Thanks,
Laura (Schuriey)

P.S. If you get a similar message, it's because I wrote it once, clicked "Preview", and then when I tried to go back the entire message disappeared. I have not figured out how to find it! (I know, this doesn't look too good, but I promise I am a very good reader! )

The three chapters sound good, but I have a question. In most books, the [Chapter] is replaced by the chapter number, so the beginning is:

Chapter 8 of Moods . This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org. "Moods" , by Louisa May Alcott . Chapter 8. Why Sylvia Was Happy. ... and then the text of the chapter begins.

And at the end:

End of Chapter 8.

In these recordings, the [Chapter] is replaced by the number in the first instance, but the name in the second instance and at the end. Is that what we want to do? I'm calling attention to it now so that we can either change these, or ensure that the other readers are aware. That way, they will all be consistent.

No, I don't wish to do that. I would like listeners to know exactly which chapter they began listening to and which one they finished. Replacing something with the name is rather confusing.
