English Stornelli by Augusta Webster (1837 - 1894).

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project: https://librivox.org/english-stornelli-by-augusta-webster/
In this sequence Augusta Webster experimented with eight-line verses grouped thematically by the seasons of the year. These poems also explore the cyclical stages of life from youth, courtship and parenthood through age and loss.
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/abookrhyme00websgoog
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): wordperfect

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

To a prospective MC - I've shortened the disclaimer so it's in line with the short poetry intros and outros.

Pam - the sequence begins on page 129.

All ready! As usual, there is no need to fill in the ID3 tags, unless you particularly want to. I'll move us over to Going Solo later today or tomorrow. Please holler if there is anything I can do

Hi Pam,

We're moving on to the more explicitly personal stuff now. These begin on page 135.

I had to look up dulse - it's a dark red edible seaweed. The only problem is that I don't think I'll use that word often enough for it to stick in my memory!

Hi Pam,

I'm so glad you're enjoying this! This sequence, at least to me, seems to have an emotional resonance akin to some of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's verse, and the same mix of contentment and sorrow as some of William Blake's. It seems unfair that it's buried in the back of one scan on the Internet Archive.
