I'd love to take Chapter 4, if I may? This is a fun read :)

Hi Cari,

Just one note:

3:19: 'old Christmas' should be 'old Merry Christmas'

But I do some observations about the story itself:
By this time Helen—which was her name ever since she was baptized—had crawled into bed again,
What a pointless addition...
First came the very thing she wanted most, then came what she wanted next, and then her third choice.
Methinks Mr. Jenks doesn't actually know what young girls like.

OK, revised is up and ready, same link, same time (10:16).
I totally agree on both points. Strange how writing has evolved over the years! :?

Here is chapter 2. Gypsy meets his new friend and they talk. But he is still a prisoner of those villainous gypsies.

I was going to point out that 'primer' should be pronounced 'PRY-mer', but then I looked it up, and it seems that it can also be pronounced 'PRIM-er', especially when referring to 'a small introductory book on any subject'. The stuff you learn from these books!

OK, chapter 4 is ready for PL. I hope it's ok... I'm in BC and our lovely wildfire situation here has meant our entire province is covered in a thick cloud of smoke. Not great for the voice :(

Hi Cari,

PL OK!

I had to check out some of that gypsy slang to see if it was real/what it meant.

According to this:

"Howie been baishen" means "How are you"

"Jucal" means "Dog"

"Ruffie lee ma" means "Devil miss me"

"Feck a bar and mar you" means "Grab a stone and hit you"

"Chee, chee!" means "Silence!"

"Raunie" means "Lady"

"Jaw vree" means "Go away"

"Riah" means "Gentleman"

"Jucal-femler" means "Dog-dealer"

"Jaw drom" means "Take the road"

"Baurie-dews" means "Good day"

And while I'm updating, I should note that I'm going to be on holiday from tomorrow to the 26th, and as such, will not be able to do any PLing for that time period.
