Doesn't it go for 3 days? Anyway, I'm at 25 minutes of recorded time .. . My recording time has been limited the last two weeks, and with the holiday coming up, may remain a challenge for a bit longer . .. but I'm on the task!

Not a problem, MaryAnn! This is definitely a meaty book, and I don't mind if things slow down for a little bit for this project! Thanks for checking in!

Chapter 9 is PL OK! (That last letter, after Gettysburg had been won, to get his rear end chewed off for not capturing Lee! Wow, that's all I can say on that one!)

Yes, that was something I had not realized before, but I can see why Lincoln was so upset. He wanted to bring the war to an end, and Lincoln could see that once Lee got back into Virginia, it would be a longer process to win, with all the attendant costs in lives on both sides.

I wanted to check in and say that I'm working on Chapter 7. I had some time blocked off for it over Labour Day, but then came down with a cold then. I'll try to hurry and finish it up so as not to hold things up more than necessary.

There's a note in the instructions (which I admit I had overlooked in some previous volumes) that we're to check first if we want to include any footnotes. I've recorded the final footnote of the chapter, in which Jefferson Davis gives his usual lame and petulant account of this brilliant campaign. All right to include it? If not, I'll just edit it out. The other footnotes didn't seem as interesting (well, apart from the one about the toothbrush, to some extent...).

In the meantime, on to editing!

Yes, that's fine! I don't mind adding in the footnotes if they add something to the main text. Thank you for asking!
