[COMPLETE]The desirable alien at home in Germany/V Hunt-ans
Sorry to hear about all your upgrade woes. I hadn't picked up that there was a new Audacity - these days I've cut the computer out of the loop altogether (at least until editing) and record on one of these - it's easy to carry about and just works. I suppose there might be new firmware issued at some time, but I don't use any of the advanced functions so can't imagine I'd need it.
The reading is great but I'm afraid you need to revisit your MP3 settings - you've saved the MP3 as a VBR file and the settings need to be CBR at 128kbps. Since you're also having to resave it anyway, the file would benefit from a very small amount of amplification too - you're within the 87-92dB range but only just (Checker's reporting 87.3dB so 1.7dB more would give you the full 89) - not enough to be a problem but, as I said, if you're resaving anyway it's only a couple of extra mouseclicks.
Cheers,
Paul

Such impressive equipment! I think I need a new mic, the sound seemed to be breaking up.SkyRider wrote:Sorry to hear about all your upgrade woes. It was the latest Audacity for Linux and it presented me with a lot more choices (which I didn't understand). It was also calling the file an "aiff" (I googled, it's a known bug). But now you've told me what the "constant" option means and that's great! I think the bitrate and the volume should be OK now.

Thank you Paul. There was some trouble of that nature a while back.... I can't remember the details, but it was fixed.
Best,
Barbara
