The Hollow Tree and Deep Woods Book by Albert Bigelow Paine (1861 - 1937).

This project is complete and can be found in our catalog at http://librivox.org/the-hollow-tree-and-deep-woods-book-by-albert-bigelow-paine/
"In the House of Many Windows which stands in a large city and is sometimes called a "flat" by people who, because they are grown up, do not know any better, live the Little Lady and the Story Teller.

The Little Lady is four years old, going on five, and is fond of stories. This makes her and the Story Teller good friends. They mostly sit in the firelight after supper, and while the Little Lady is being undressed they tell each other all that has happened since morning. Then the Little Lady looks into the fire and says:—

"Now, tell me a story."

Sometimes she wants a new story. Sometimes one of the old ones, which must be told always the same, because the Little Lady, like a good many grown up people, does not care for new and revised editions, but wants the old stories in the old words, that sound real and true. Sometimes the Story Teller forgets or improves on his plots, but the Little Lady never forgets and never fails to set the Story Teller right." ( the author)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/33816
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Those are all yours. Enjoy them and ask if anything is confusing or does not make sense. Image

Good to have you back! I will put these into the MW for proof listening. Although we don't have a DPL yet so it may be awhile.

Oh Yes Philip! That would be wonderful. Have you been DPL before? If so, this is standard PLing with no frills. Just ask if anything is confusing, OK? Here is a big flower Image

EDIT: I mean, do you know how to mess with the Magic Window?

Got it. I have PL'd about a dozen sections and am currently DPL on 3 other topics. (I'm having to cut back on my reading for a bit--too much pollen in the air--and this is a way that I can stay connected).

Look forward to listening to these readings. I notice there are already a couple waiting for me.

I'll get to work.

Many thanks,

Philip

Kimberly:

Both sections very nicely read! Section 3 is PL OK!

I have just a couple of notes on Section 2:

There is a loud noise at 2:54 and 3:27 in the recording. It obscured your words to some extent.

Also (this one is just for future reference--no adjustment needed)--your volume on the file was right at the low end of the range 87.1 db.

Yes you may. Notice that the first section will have two chapters in it ; a first very short introduction kind of thing and then the first story. please read both and just say the title of the second story when you get to it. Yeah, it is a bit confusing but that intro story was just too short to stand alone. Ask in you have any quest ions. Oh, and a big welcome to this fun book and to LibrriVox. Image
