Section 11 - Uncle Wiggily and the Crab - This is still very loud. It is at 92.0 dB as measured with Checker. That's right at the upper allowable limit. I'd let it pass, but the silence at the end of the section is over 16 seconds - way too long. Please trim the ending silence down to 5 or 6 seconds and upload the section again. While you're at it if you can reduce the volume another 3 dB and you'll have the level perfect. The excellent news is the places where your audio reached digital zero the previous time don't sound clipped this time around.

Proof listen of sections 12 and 13 coming up next.

Laurence,
Once again the silence at the end of these sections is too long - it's near 17 seconds in each case. That silence should be 5 or 6 seconds - definitely not more than 10. Please reduce the ending silence and upload these again.

Your volume on these chapters was a bit loud but well within the allowable range, so no adjustment is needed to the levels.

Section 25 - "Uncle Wiggily and the Hoptoad" - PL OK

At the tail end you said "End of story" rather than "End of Uncle Wiggily and the Hoptoad" - but that's not a serious enough thing to need changing.

Thanks for the chapter!

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind in the future.
This was my first recording for librivox... so I
was kind of blundering along.

Congratulations on your first PL OK 8-)

For the intro and outro, you generally just read what it says in the first post... usually either 'section' or 'chapter'. But the main thing is to get proper attribution at the beginning, and let the listener know when they get to the end.

Kathi,

I found a few things that need fixes:

At 1:52 - a repeated section, starting with "Then I had the loveliest red ink you ever saw.

At 6:15 - an omitted sentence: "Then the splendid creature flew right up on the rabbit's pillow, and began to wave his wings."

At 6:30 - shuffling pages? Whatever it is, there is around a 5 second pause

At 7:18 - a repeated section: "Well, I do declare! Uncle Wiggily is all well again. The butterfly with his cool wings and cold songs has cured him."

At 7:37 - a repeated section, starting with "Then the rabbit thanked the beautiful winged creature very kindly" - there are a couple restarts in this area; you'll probably need 2 edits

At 7:59 - a repeated section, "the story will be about"

The closing needs to have "End of 'Uncle Wiggily and the Butterfly'" [optionally including your name again] and 5 seconds of silence (your recording had only 3 seconds).

I've seen the suggestion in the forums - and it makes sense to me - that when you have a few things to fix you should do them in reverse order - then you'll be able to go to the previous time in the list and the spot that needs an edit will be right there.

Your audio levels are just about perfect and the noise level in your recording is totally OK.

Wow, that is totally unlike me to have those kinds of mistakes. I listened through the entire thing more than once before submitting it, so I wonder if I somehow sent an older version. Sorry about that. I'll make sure to send one without that mess in a couple of days.

Kathi - your idea about an older version sounds likely. No worries.

Lynnet - I forgot to update the Magic Window last night - I've just done that.
