"Section 5 - Uncle Jim" completed.

Know how an Australian farmer prays for rain?
"Send 'er down, Hughie!"

I wonder if Sonia believes me, Anne?

I know I'm probably such a suspicious bastard but all through this chapter I could not take a liking to this Uncle Jim. I constantly suspected him of being a con-man trying to lure these poor gullible people into some shady scheme of his, make them work for him

Maybe it was the tone of voice you are doing, it somehow sounds a bit sarcastic and not altogether whole-heartedly honest.

Anyway, wonderfully entertaining again and no errors, so PL ok

well I take anything you tell me with a grain of salt  who is Hughie ? The video link doesn't work, I'm afraid.

Not sure of the origin , but Hughie is slang for he who is responsible for rain or drought or whatever good or bad things that are part of nature. Like the weather

Sarcastic? Moi?

Puts me in mind of that old Emile Mercier cartoon of two Sydney con-men discussing their plans.

"Me, I gotta brain-wave for the Show this year. Instead of pulling the con job on the country bumpkins, I'm disguising meself as a hayseed to lurk among the city mugs!"

excellently entertaining yet again  He is trying hard to be flippant so that the listeners won't notice his sentimental emotions deep inside

Beautifully read again, and I can mark it PL ok straight away.

One last chapter and we're done :9:

Section 7 - The Mooch O' Life completed.
https://librivox.org/uploads/kilteddragon/billdoreengethitched_07_dennis_128kb.mp3

And so we come to the end of this project.

I have a plan to round this story arc out with one final Bill & Doreen project, taken from the four poem supplement "Doreen", issued by Clarence James Dennis a few years later. https://archive.org/details/doreende00dennuoft

Doreen's developed a bit more spunk after six years of married life.

"Six years uv wedded life we've 'ad, an' still me dreams is sweet . . .
Aw, them bonzer little vi'lits, they wus smilin' round me feet.
An' wot's a bit uv stove-wood count, wiv paddicks grinnin' green,
When a bloke gits on to dreamin' uv the old days an' Doreen --
The days I thort I snared a saint, but since I've understood
I 'ave wed a dinkum woman, which is fifty times as good."

Would the same crew like to sign on for that one? I'm thinking of calling it "Bill & Doreen's Married Life (Selections from "Doreen")".

and what a wonderfully romantic ending that was :9: A nice moral to live by, beautifully narrated, Chris.

This final chapter is PL ok and that means, the project is truely finished. Well done !!!
