I'd like to sign up for 32 "For You and Me" and #22 "New Year". For a name, I'd like to use Juliane Vega.

Thank you! :D
Hi Juliane and a big welcome to LibriVox! :D I have assigned those sections to you but before you record it, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test

(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)

I also recommend Getting To Know our Forums Getting To Know Our Forums

We just want to check out your technical specs. Don't forget to post the link either in this thread or in Listeners WAnted forum. Welcome again.

Very close!

Your audio level on the re-record is now 88.0 dB - that's comfortably in the LibriVox range.

The chapter, as well as the intro and outro text is A-OK.

There is one tiny problem - the silence at the end of your section is 3 seconds but it should be 5. This should be an easy fix in Audacity. You can use the Generate - Silence... function (it even asks you exactly how long you want). If you can edit an additional two seconds of silence on the end of this recording and upload again everything should be fine.

Write if you have any questions or problems.

The closing silences should really be closer to 5 seconds but I'll let it go, with the reader making corrections in future recordings.
Note to SpiderScientist and philchenevert

I've changed the Magic Window for section 15 to See PL Notes
(Change the title of the story from "The Fortune" to "A Fortune" - while you're editing trim the silence at the end down to 5 seconds)

I've changed the Magic Window for section 25 to PL OK

Everything in the Magic Window should now be up to date.

Hi Phil!

I finally uploaded a test. Please see here: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_jvega.mp3

I'm nervous about using the DAW correctly but eager to learn.

Thanks again! :)

Your test sounds good but there are two things I would like you to correct, make another test with the name test 2 or something and upload it again.
1. Your recording is in stereo (two tracks) we need mono. this video deals with that somewhere http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqmCOxOs_pM but simply set your audacity to record in mono: EDit>preferences> Devices>recording> mono. after you set this, from then on it will always record in mono.

2. volume. You are a bit too loud. Move a bit further from the microphone or turn down the recording volume a bit. Not too much, but a bit. Our checker program says you are about 2 dB too high.

Do ths and post the new test2 recording right in this thread and you will be recording in jiffy, I promise :D
EDIT: oh, I noticed some 'plosives, where your breath hits the mic directly. Nothing to really worry about but try talking a bit across your mic instead of directly into it.
