Section 8, 1:13.87

My first recording apart from the one-minute test so I hope it's correct. Would appreciate feedback if something is wrong.

(It's passed the checker etc).

Hi Emma!, welcome to LibriVox!

PL notes on both this one (sec 8) and your other post (sec 1) ----

First, you have a very nice recording voice and style of reading which was perfect for these poems. Your pacing and intonation were wonderful!

Now the tech stuff :) .... Section 8 in the file name should be "08", not "8". Carolin can fix this in the catalogue, but just be aware of that for next time. Section 1 file name is fine.

Section 8 only had a little more than 3 seconds of silence at the end of the recording and section 1 had 4 seconds. For future recordings, try to get as close to 5 seconds as you can please.

Both of these have a fair amount of background noise that distracts from your wonderful reading of the poem. I'm not sure if it's just "noise" like airplanes, cars, etc., or if there may be some microphone hum as well.

I tried just noise cleaning these in Audacity, but it wasn't that great and to get rid of the noise, it wrecked your voice. I did try a High Pass filter first and then noise cleaned which helped, but I'd suggest that maybe you post in the Help Forum with a link to section 1 which has the most of the two. If you listen to the ending silence in this section, you can really hear the noise I am talking about.

Finding a quiet place to record and the right mic is the biggest challenge that most of us face. Tovarisch, who gave you feedback on your 1 minute test is a wizard with these things and can probably help you with this!

I am going to mark these as PL OK, however if you decide to clean them up and upload again, post that here so I can give them another listen.

Thanks,

Nemo

Hi Nemo,

Thank-you for the comments and advice.

Advice taken! I hope I'll find a solution to make my recording sound cleaner.
