Hi Kate and Divya,
Yes, it has been changed to 5 seconds for everything so the file is fine. For future reference, if someone does have ten seconds, there is no need to ask them to reduce it.
Thank you both!
Amy

Kate Follis
I love to read, AND my employer matches my volunteer hours with a donation to the Internet Archive, flagged to benefit Librivox.org. How cool is that?

Section 7: A LUNCHEON-PARTY
Please add 5 seconds of silence at the end as a total of 10 seconds of silence is recommended for recordings longer than 30 minutes

Section 19: VENUS
1) Filename is "Venus_take_orpheusinmayfair_19_baring_128kb" instead of "orpheusinmayfair_19_baring_128kb"
2) Volume = 93.3dB, suggested gain = -4.5dB

Thanks Kate, Matt, Emma and Allen :D

Hi, I don't think I understand the feedback here. I'm still at layperson level.

1) Isn't venus_take_... what I wrote? Did I copy and paste incorrectly?
2) does that mean my volume was too high? Is this feedback for the next recording, or do you need me to change/re-record what I submitted?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

1) The filename format specified is orpheusinmayfair_##_baring_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. orpheusinmayfair_19_baring_128kb.mp3)
2) Yes. Ideally the volume should be 89dB, but recordings generally in the range of 87-91dB are acceptable

Please change the filename and reduce the volume, then re-upload :)

Okay, that should do it.

I presume the quality of the performance itself was acceptable? Any feedback?

Guess I'll take on Dr. Faust's Last Day - number 16

Hi Allen,
Divya is the proof listener. She will check the file and give you feedback. You have a nice voice.
I signed you up for Section 16.
Thank you!
Amy

Section 17 and 19 : PL OK
Thanks Kate and Allen!

@Allen - Frankly, I didn't realize that this was your first recording for librivox until you mentioned it. As Amy said, you have a great voice. Also, the recording was very clear, without any noise.
As for volume, you can always check it before uploading the file by using the Checker or MP3Gain
Thanks for recording :D

Section 15: The Old Woman PL OK
Welcome to Librivox Nalini! Your recording has almost no noise and your voice is clearly heard. The technical specs are all good, though I would recommend that the initial silence (before the intro) be closer to 0.5 seconds for your future recordings.
Thanks for recording :D

Thank you for the wishes and feedback, Amy and Divya. :D
I will make sure to reduce the intro silence period, for my next recording.
