COMPL [poetry] London Lyrics by Frederick Locker-Lampson -ck
Mel:
Allow me to add my "Welcome to Librivox" to those you've already received. Section 17 was well-read--absolutely word perfect. You handled the rhythm and feel of the words quite nicely. There are a couple of technical issues (one of which is something to keep in mind, the other of which needs to be fixed.)
The one to keep in mind is that there need to be about 5 seconds of silence at the end. You were a bit short this time (about .7 seconds), but close enough.
The one that needs to be fixed is that your amplification is too loud. There is information available in the Librivox wiki specifically on this point (and there are videos as well), but I'll add "what I do" to it (not that I'm the be-all and end-all authority--I'm absolute not that--but this works for me.) I always run every file I'm going to upload through the Checker (available for download at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker). That will tell me exactly what my amplification level is. Any level between about 86.5 and 92 is acceptable. (I usually aim for 89--sort of mid range myself). The Checker will tell me how close I am to my target--and then I use the Amplification effect in Audacity to either increase or decrease my amplification--and re-run it through the Checker just to be sure that I've gotten the results I want. I stress again, that is just what I do. Others have different ways which would also produce acceptable results.
There is no need to re-record the file. If you will fix the amplification issues, I'll mark it PL-OK.
A great first effort. I look forward to hearing many more.
Many thanks,
Philip

Hi Philip,
Thanks so much for your feedback! I downloaded the checker and have adjusted the amplification so it has now passed, please find the amended file below for section 17 for proof-listening. Section 18 will follow very shortly.

Mel:
Section 18--there is only one little change that needs to be made. The opening stanza is a quote from a poem by Wordsworth. The name "Wordsworth" appears in the text and should be read after the first four lines where it occurs in the text.
Other than that, a perfect reading. Good job on adjusting the audio levels.
Many thanks,
Philip
