Here is chapter 41

https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/petersimple_41_marryat_128kb.mp3

duration 22.16.

I made one alteration at 151.15. I think it should be "hands" not"bands"

Cheers

PL OK! And I checked a scan of the book, and it did say 'hands', so you were right to correct that.

Here are your notes:

42: PL OK!

43:

0:24: I'm hearing 'Popped at for pee ink' rather than 'Popped at for peeping'

44:

6:46: 'Boarding the nettings were triced up' should be 'Boarding netting were triced up'.

45:

1:01: 'from the Bordeaux' should be 'from Bordeaux'.
5:52: 'but as this was told to me in secretly' should be 'but as this was told to me in secrecy'.

I don't have enough time to do any more today (you posted over two hours of recordings...), so check back tomorrow (and probably the next day too) for the rest of the notes.

I'll grant you that 'the Bordeaux' might be too picky, but I stand by the rest. I feel they either change the meaning or don't make sense.

Batch 2!
Here are your notes:

55:

9:35: Repetition of 'She also attempted to round-to'
12:26: Repetition of 'I don't think he much does; and this fellow has shown plenty of it'

56:

2:29: Repetition of '"Mr Paul, turn the hands up for punishment," said the captain in a rage'
2:56: Repetition of 'in our countenances'
3:38-3:55: Several failed takes that need to be removed
5:35: Repetition of 'Besides, sir, you have not yet tried' (twice)
7:52: Repetition of 'The captain looked for the articles of war to read' (twice)
10:18: 'To preserve appeared useless' needs to be removed
12:01-12:04: Long gap that should be trimmed down
12:33: Repetition of 'He kept his eyes upon'
12:46: 'About twenty of the men appointed strongly' needs to be removed
13:58: Repetition of 'provided they are confident of, or he has proved to them his courage'
14:14: Repetition of 'and the ship's company'
15:00: Repetition of 'and one kind act, when they were not lead away by the'
15:58: 'he confines himself within the limit that he may protect' needs to be removed

57:

1:16: This should be 'He had taken it into his head that he was a pump; and with one arm held out as a spout, he had obliged the poor old nurse to work the other up and down for hours together. In fact, there was a string of strange conceptions of this kind'. You skipped from 'his head that' to 'conceptions'

You know, normally people remove the mistakes before they upload the file

44 and 45 are PL OK, but I'm still hearing 'peeing' rather than 'peeping' for Chapter 43 at 0:24.

Final batch (please don't get into the habit of uploading 11 chapters at once...):

62 and 63: PL OK

64:

7:56 (not required): I think you need to make it clear that the town's name has censored. Maybe say 'arrived in the town of blank'.
8:06: I'm hearing 'I was answered by a voy and very lively' instead of 'I was answered by a boy in livery' (pronounced like 'LIV-uh-ree', not 'LAHYV-ree')

65:

11:09: 'but I don't, I deserve it all' should be 'but don't I deserve it all'
15:27: 'At my appearance, the waiters, who were now showing fight, retarded to a short distance' should be 'At my appearance, the waiters, who were showing fight, retreated to a short distance'
20:00: This ending should be 'End of Chapter 65. End of Peter Simple, by Frederick Marryat.'

Jordan, I honestly don't know how much to thank you for taking the time to thoroughly go through these recordings. I feel I was a bit lazy when it came to proof-listening to them myself this time, and I'll try to put a little more effort and time into each individual chapter from now on.
Thanks! Ill keep ya updated as soon as I fix them.
