It's Portuguese now!

My best,

Pam

So that's how the Portuguese pronounce Corunna - as in

"Not a drum was heard, not a funeral note,
As his corse to the rampart we hurried

.......

We carved not a line, and we raised not a stone,
But we left him alone with his glory."

Somehow I've known that poem almost all my life and had not much idea what it was about. It looks as though I'll find out in the next chapter.

PL OK again,

Best,

Barbara

Thank you, Barbara!

Of course in the interest of authenticity, it's all incomprehensible.

Thank you for the nice poem.

Over 40 minutes of quality pronouncing. PL OK!

I didn't even attempt to follow the war games but I did consult Wikipedia and came away confused.

Section 10 is PL OK!

I think it was somewhere in this section that the Battle of Campo Maior, 25 March 1811, took place:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Campo_Maior

It gets slight mention considering the fuss Beethoven made over it. I have a feeling I could have posted this before and, if so, apologies:

But the prose came alive at the Battle of Vittoria. PL OK.

I guess you are aware of Beethoven's aural re-creation of the Battle (cannon! muskets!)? If not, just to show that I'm not making this up:
