Sonia, vielen Dank again for taking the time to go through my recordings. And thank you for your very kind words.Kitty wrote: wonderfully narrated, Beniamino I can really picture Racine standing before the Académie and giving this speech. No textual errors at all found, so this recording is absolutely PL ok. It was also a wonderful text, and a great choice for this collection. Thanks
only thing: the file-name is not up to standard, it needs the "msw018" and your name initials. So either you reupload, or maybe it can be changed by the MC later on ?
this collection is for any text in the public domain (you need to make sure your source is PD), and in any language APART from English, because we have special collections just for English. And I think you should preferably not exceed 60 minutes of recording.Laurette wrote:I was wondering... Is it possible to read a monolog from a play ? I'd like to read the tirade of "Non Merci !" (no, thank you) from Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. Would it work or not ?
Thank you for your help and feel free to refuse it, I don't really know how it works
haha an answer in three different languages, that's originalBeniaminoMassimo wrote:Sonia, vielen Dank again for taking the time to go through my recordings. And thank you for your very kind words.
I reuploaded the file with a more appropriate name:

À bientôt.
Ok, great ! So I found the Cyrano de Bergerac text on the Gutenberg platform ! It's scene 2, VIII, (je viens juste de comprendre que cela veut en réalité dire Acte 2 scène VIII when I thought it was the contrary... ) when Cyrano starts with "Et que faudrait-il faire" and ends at "Ne pas monter bien haut peut-être mais tout seul".Kitty wrote: this collection is for any text in the public domain (you need to make sure your source is PD), and in any language APART from English, because we have special collections just for English. So yes, a monologue in French is perfectly ok, if your source text is PD. If you're unsure, just post the link to your text here first, and we can take a look.
Sonia
if it's on Gutenberg that means it's PD in the USA. And then you can safely record it, unless the author is not yet dead for 70 years, because you are European (I think), so we need to stick to the European 70-year-dead rule as well. But Rostand is long dead already, so all is fine there too. You can record from there.Laurette wrote:Ok, great ! So I found the Cyrano de Bergerac text on the Gutenberg platform !
yes I think that would work. You need to think about how to call your section. Maybe "Monologue de Cyrano de Bergerac dans l'Acte 2 Scène VIII" by Edmond Rostand...It's scene 2, VIII, (je viens juste de comprendre que cela veut en réalité dire Acte 2 scène VIII when I thought it was the contrary... ) when Cyrano starts with "Et que faudrait-il faire" and ends at "Ne pas monter bien haut peut-être mais tout seul".
Edmond Rostand died in 1918 so it's okay I presume..If my math are goodKitty wrote: if it's on Gutenberg that means it's PD in the USA. yes that's perfectly fine, if this is a title it's known by. I don't know the stage play well enough to debate about this. If you think it is a good title then go with it.Laurette wrote:I thought I could call my section "Tirade des non mercis, acte 2 scène VIII de Cyrano de Bergerac"
haha well actually, it's more important WHERE you record than what you are. If you are a European living in New York, you can forget about the 70-year rule. Because in America it's not important. But if you are a New Yorker recording in London, you have to stick to European copyright rules, even if you are American. And yes, I'm European Except if my parents lied to me my whole life...
thank you Bernd, this poem is also PL ok.lorda wrote:one more german Poem .

yes also with wikisource we have to check whether they have the original scan, but in this case it's ok. But I also found it on archive, it's the same book I think. So we're good here.lorda wrote:Hello Sonia,
is a better link for the source?

Ah Cyrano, there he is. Excellently recited, Laure, with plenty of emotion, I liked it very much. You should consider playing a part in one of our stage plays once. If you don't mind reading English for once. Unfortunately we don't offer French plays at the moment.Laurette wrote:http://uploads.librivox.org/icequeen/msw018_latiradedesnonsmerci_rostand_ls_128kb.mp3[/url]
