Is PG Wodehouse public domain now? A few months ago i was told that as he died in 1975 he was still under copyright.

It depends where you are. Copyright law is complicated. Put simply, if you are in the US, the work must have been written before 1923 (there are exceptions... as I said, complicated) but in many other countries, including the UK and most of Europe, it is based on the death date of the author... in particular, 70 years after he died (some countries it's 50, some it's one rule before a certain date and another after  ). Wodehouse died in 1975 so you will be able to record his work in 2046 (January 1 after the 70th anniversary of his death)-- unless you are on vacation in the US, in which case you need to explicitly state your location.

I wasn't aware of the complications, I found the text on Gutenberg.org and it looked like they vetted it pretty well for a US reader.

Gutenberg is a pretty reliable source for US readers. They check PD status thoroughly there. The problem is that it isn't a global standard, so readers (and listeners) elsewhere have to be careful. LV follows US copyright laws as that is where the servers are.

Sorry:

The Grand Opera is 6:00 including the silence at the end. I don't know how this got left off.

Also, I can not find out anything about BIlly Baxter. There is a poker player by this name, but not an author.
