The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (1856 - 1919).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-wonderful-wizard-of-oz-version-6-dramatic-reading-by-l-frank-baum/
Folk Lore, legends, myths and fairy tales have followed childhood through the ages, for every healthy youngster has a wholesome and instinctive love for stories fantastic, marvelous and manifestly unreal. The winged fairies of Grimm and Anderson have brought more happiness to childish hearts than all other human creations. (L. Frank Baum)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/files/55/55-h/55-h.htm
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

By the way, we have everyone needed to read the project (since this is a school assignment) but we will need an MC/BC (because we are still not quite sure what the difference is) to help us out. Thank you!

I'll be yoour MC - that means I'll put it in the database and catalogue it
You are the BC - which means you get everything ready so I can just add it to the catalogue
but youre new , which means I also need to help you :D

First thing I need is to be exactly sure about how you are planning to do this. So I'll say what I think from what you have said and if I'm wrong tell me now.

This will be what we call a "dramatic reading" so that say for the first chapter you will have
A narrator who will read all the text that isn't enclosed in " "
Uncle Henry
AuntEm
(Toto and Dorothy don't speak in this chapter)

You will organise this , edit it together and upload a complete chapter 1 for us to listen to and check out.
I'd suggest you completed a chapter first and let us check it , so if there are wrinkles we can iron them out

We are currently working on chapter one of this novel, since we are together we will be reading and uploading each chapter through one of our librivox accounts. Today we will be uploading through my account once we have finished editing. Other than that, you are correct! Thank you so much for explaining it for us.
Now one last question, in order for us to give you the link can we directly message you the mp3 upload or do we just post the link as a reply to this thread?

You just post the link , with it's duration e.g 6:24 just so we have a quick way of checking it all arrived safely.
Would you like the catalogue name to indicate what you would call the group ? " the wonderfolk" or OurShool readers or ...... ?

That was very good. I'll fix up the title and add it to the window. My only suggestion for the next one would be to leave just a fraction more time before saying end of chapter, but pacing is a very personal thing and if you prefer it as it is that is fine .

Anne

the file name should be wizardoz6_01_baum_128kb.mp3 so next one will be wizardoz6_02_128kb :D etc until we reach 2 digits which will be 10, 11 etc . If we only used _1_ then the files to be arranged as 1,12-19, 2, 21-25,3, 4,5, etc

Thanks for the offer Cheryl . From the PLing side it's a normal project because we are only checking the finished product so I think I might just PL it myself as they are all "newbies"
