I'm safe and sound. Day 3 of no electric. No gas for the car because the gas stations that have received gas don't have electric to pump it out to us. Internet isn't always around but I can't easily charge my phone anyway so that's probably a good thing. I run the car for an hour or so a day to charge the phone. It's hot and today there has been little to no breeze. All in all miserable but safe and no property damage so MUCH better than many.

THANKS so much for the update! I have been worrying.
Will continue to plod along over here and though I know recovery will be slow because there are so many in need, am so happy that you are safe and sound, though hot and uncomfortable.

Thank you both!

I was able to get access to a generator today and I'm sharing it with the neighbors on each side of me. All food in the freezers is already spoiled but at least we each get a light a fan and a phone charger. Life is so much better right now. I just hope we can find gas tomorrow to keep this going. Fingers crossed!

I have electric!

I tried to stream the next chapter and it's impossible with the coverage I have. There are a lot of cable lines down so I'm limited to what I can pick up on my cell phone and that's a struggle as well.

Btw: FEMA MREs have a TON of sugar in them. I sure will be glad with the stores are restocked and open. This has been such a learning experience.

Gradual steps to normalcy.

I read an interesting editorial on how no AC and no internet was allowing folks to meet their neighbors. That's a positive, but it still would be nice to have access to AC and decent download speeds.

I agree with that. You certainly find out who your good neighbors are. There are 5 houses on our end of the street. One's a snowbird. I was already close with 2 others but have had much more interaction with the other two than ever before. Previously they were a wave across the street if we happened to be out at the same time.
