Faery Tales from Hans Christian Andersen by Hans Christian Andersen (1805 - 1875)
Translated by Mrs. Edgar Lucas (1855 - )

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project: http://librivox.org/faery-tales-from-hans-christian-andersen
This is a 1910 edition of the Fairy Tales of Hans Christian Andersen. This volume is nicely mixed, containing both the most famous tales as well as some which are less well-known. The translation is adapted for American readership and in some ways brings a new facet to some of the stories. Listeners may want to have a look at the online text for its beautiful colour illustrations. ( Carolin)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. Please note that all sections now open in this collection are orphans! this means that this project is already well underway to completion, but a number of sections had to be reopened. Please only claim a section in this project if you can complete it in a timely manner! thank you!
    3. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    5. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/faerytalesfromha00ande
    6. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I’m interested in volunteering for this book. I’d like to read “The Mermaid”, if available. This will be my first recording and I’m pretty new to this, so I’m hoping I can do alright. :)

I took a look at the book at archive.org... what a beautiful edition! Fabulous illustrations (both the color plates and the line drawings.) Familiar stories, too. I'm looking forward to listening to this one.

A word of caution for whoever wants to read "The Storks" -- page 138 is a bad scan. All the information is there, but there's a vertical jog through the middle of the page.

Hi there!

I'd like to take section 26 The Snow Queen. As it's a tale in 7 stories would you like an audio file for each section?

The name to list me under is Rachel Percy.

Many thanks!

Hi and welcome to Librivox!

You are welcome to read that section. I have signed you up, your personal catalogue page is here https://librivox.org/reader/11573 :)

Youre right, this is one story consisting of seven tales, but they should be all in one recording. Thank you!

Thank you! I'd like my name to be under Shawna Lee. I don't really have anything to link, though. I'll complete that test recording asap. :)
