Hi and welcome to Librivox!
There are a few things to do before you get started.
You will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run. Please be sure to complete this within 7 days.
You will also need to be added to the catalog of readers. I will add you using your forum name, but if you prefer your real name or a pseudonym let me know. We can also link to a personal blog or website. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will see your own personal catalog page.
Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.

Hi Debs,
This is an interesting book. After proof listening, I found there are a few small updates needed on Sections 5, 6 and 7.
Section 5 PL notes:
The opening needs to say Section 5.
The closing needs to be Section 5. It is too loud.
Reduce the amplification by -2 db.
Lastly, the filename should be theoryofcolours_05_goethe_128kb
Section 6 PL notes:
At 0.33 it needs to say 47.
The filename needs to be theoryofcolours_06_goethe_128kb
Section 7 P notes:
At 2:05, it says 64. It needs to be 67.
It is quiet so an amplification of 1 db would be good.
And the filename should be theoryofcolours_07_goethe_128kb
Please update the files and reupload them.
Cheers!
Amy

Hi Amy,

Thank you for checking the files. With regards to the volume levels, I ran these files all through the checker prior to submission and it measures the volumes for the files as follows:

Section 5
91.5 dB

Section 6
89.4 dB

Section 7
87.6 dB

So my question is: Should I not use the checker app if it can't be relied upon? The volume is within the librivox guidelines but still not acceptable. Please can you clarify the range I should be delivering in that case?

Thank you,

Debs

Hi Amy,

Here are the new version with your improvements. I hope they are OK now. I have pegged all recordings to be around 89.4 to 89.9 DB.

Hi Debs,
It is good to use the checker. The recordings were in range. I just asked you to adjust them to bring them closer to 89 since other changes were being made.
Sections 5, 6, and 7 are PL OK now.
Thanks,
Amy

And one more from the back, section 40 with a short 14:46:

Interesting that he talks about a sphere of colours like Munsell does so much later 8-)
