Another memory?
My brother in Law was also in the Navy and his ship was sent to Scotland and while he was there he had too much grog and found himself invited to a wedding and while there he was invited to play the piano and forgot that his ship was sailing that afternoon. It turned out to be a bad day for him as he was absent without leave. He, of course had difficulty in getting on board. A sad day for him. He of course survived his reprimand.
It was no joke for him, but I got a laugh.
