This short, anonymous work is thought to have been written in the 1300s by a member of the lay-religious group called ‘The Friends of God.’ Its central teaching is that humans can become one with God by living a holy, selfless life in which our will is subsumed into God’s, of which Christ is the ultimate example. Martin Luther discovered, named, and published Theologia Germanica in 1516, declaring that, "Next to the Bible and St. Augustine, no book has ever come into my hands from which I have learnt more of God and Christ, and man and all things that are." For a solo project, you are the Book Coordinator. That means you fill out the Magic Window and post your links and times in the window when you upload your files. You'll need to start by entering section (or chapter) titles. I'm sure you've seen enough of our projects to know how to structure those. The system adds the section number to the beginning of whatever you type in the MW.

You'll need to start by logging into the magic window. Instructions are in the BC How-to; and this is a more detailed version of the First Login instructions (with pictures!) Please be sure to read all of the BC How To document, as that will give you more information on your role as a BC.

I've filled in some section titles to get your started. No right way to do that, so please feel free to adjust. I was thinking that all the intro matter would go in a single section at the beginning, so that the section numbers matched the chapter numbers. If you had something different in mind, that's fine. Right now the intro text refers to "section" this or that. If your section numbers and chapter numbers match, you can simply read the intros as "chapter number" and make no reference to the "section".

If you have questions, or if you have any trouble with the instructions in the BC how to, please post and we'll work through it together. There is a bit of a learning curve when you do your first solo.

Thank you for setting everything up. I've replaced the CCEL summary with one I wrote myself, as asked, and I like your idea of putting all the introductory material in section 00. After thinking about it, since Theologia Germanica has so many teeny-tiny chapters I've decided to record in sections of 5 chapters each. Unfortunately that means I asked you for way more sections than I'm going to need. Could you please delete the extraneous ones when you get a chance? Hope that doesn't complicate things too much.

I've done a few Solo recordings for Librivox, but the last one was in 2010 and it looks like things have changed since then. Thank you for all your help!

Note: Originally I was going to skip Chevalier Bunsen's letter because I thought he would make the 1st section too bulky, but after finishing the Preface and Introduction I decided to include it after all.

Also, you may notice (I did!) that my voice changes a bit in different portions of the Introduction. That's the affects of tree pollen allergies. Happy proof listening!

If it says you don't have permission, try logging out and then logging in again. If you are still having trouble, tell me what you are doing and what it is telling you back, and I'll help you work through it.
