Bible Passages Collection 003.

This project is now complete and can be found in our catalog here: https://librivox.org/bible-passages-collection-003/

Librivox's Bible Passages Collection 003: a collection of verses and chapters from multiple public domain editions of the Holy Bible. (Kangaroo692)
  1. NEW READERS: Please read the Newbie Guide to Recording and do a short test recording before submitting here, just to make sure that all your settings are OK. Then please read this post carefully and refer back to it. It has all the information you need to submit a recording successfully.
  2. This collection is for any passage, verse, or chapter of the Holy Bible. The translation you use must be in the public domain. Please make sections at least 30 seconds long, and under 60 minutes. You are welcome to contribute up to 5, and there is no need to "sign-up" before recording as long as the translation is clearly in the public domain. Please post here if you are unsure about public domain status. The work does not have to be in the English language, as long as it is in the public domain. Note - this is not the collection to submit commentaries, devotions, or other texts based on the Holy Bible.
  3. Where can I find translations of the Bible?
    Try http://www.gutenberg.org/
    http://openenglishbible.org
Or try BibleGateway.com to find a public domain translation there. (They have copyrighted translations as well, so be careful when choosing which translation.)
or any other place you can find some - but they must be Public Domain - many Bible related texts on the internet are not.

Multiple versions are always welcome, so you can record a passage that has been recorded before. (If the same passages are submitted twice in the same collection, we will carry the second version over to the next collection) .
  4. Once we have 20 sections, we will start the cataloging process, and soon after the passages and make them available to the public. What if all the sections are filled? Don't worry, I can make more. After we have 20 sections I will start collection 004.
  5. RECORD
    • Be sure to set your recording software to: 44100Hz, 16-bit
    • At the BEGINNING Say: "Bible Passages Collection Number 3, [Verse; Translation]" "This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox Recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit Librivox.org"
    • At the END, say: "End of [Verse; Translation]."
    • If you wish, you may also say: "Read by...your name."
    • Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording or 10 seconds if longer than 30 minutes.
  6. EDIT and SAVE your file:
    • Need noise-cleaning?Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear distracting background noise, you may want to clean it up a bit. The free version 2.1.1. of Audacity (Mac/Win) has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide. Note: Noisecleaning with earlier versions of Audacity is not recommended.

    • ID3 Tags:ID tags are no longer needed - they are now produced automatically.

    • Save or export your recording to an mp3 file at 128kbps using the following filename:
      • File Name: Put file name all in lowercase, and the verse in one word i.e. the, a, an, and NO SPACES): bpc003_verseandtranslation_readersinitials_128kb.mp3,
        e.g. bpc003_psalm23kjv_kgr_128kb.mp3
  7. SUBMIT your recording:
Please upload your finished recording using the LibriVox uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please copy to post in this thread):
    Uploader: http://librivox.org/login/uploader
    Image

If you have trouble reading the image above, please send a private message to any admin
You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: maryannspiegel.
*If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.
  8. POST the following information in this thread:
    • • The link you copied from the uploader to your file
      • The verse
      • Translation (year produced)
      • Source from which you read (i.e. Gutenberg etext url)
      • Length in minutes and size in MB of your file
      • If this is your first Librivox recording, I will also need your name as you would like it to appear on the catalogue page and the URL of your homepage if you have one and would like it linked to your name on the catalogue page.
  9. Want to see if what you plan to record has been done already?
    Vol 1 : http://librivox.org/bible-passages-collection-001/
    Vol 2 : http://librivox.org/bible-passages-collection-002/
But don't let this stop you from recording your own version!

Please don't download files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

OK Kanga, your MW is ready.

If you or Soupy have any files downloaded for PLing, feel free to upload them and put them in the MW.

Note: I'm not open for submissions on this project quite yet. I'll ask Soupy if he has any of the files. I have some but I don't think they are the PL OK ones.

I would still like to submit a recording of Zephaniah, Chapter 3, from the Catholic Public Domain Version. Stinks that you had to start all over again! ?
