Here's section 1, duration 23:54
https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/constitution_01_bagehot_128kb.mp3
I'm requesting a two-week extension on parts 2, 3 and 4.
checker shows:
volume 90.0 dB,
background noise 24.2
DC offset -0.0001%
As a matter of course, should I leave it at 90.0 dB, or try to reduce it to 89.0dB? I live in a very noisy environment and cleaning up the noise is my big obstacle, so after all I've done to the file I'm a little leery of over-processing it and acquiring audio artifacts.
Any suggestions?

Regarding the volume, 90 decibel is perfectly fine. We accept recording volumes from ca. 86 to 92 decibel, so whenever the checker says your volume is fine it is fine
Regarding background noise, we generally accepted a little room noise if it cant easily be cleared out. Just as you said, the sound quality can really get worse with extra noise cleaning, so sometimes, a little background noise is better than an extra round of noisecleaning. Kristin will give you her opinion when she gets the chance
Also, no problem to get an extension

Just checking in to say I haven't died and parts 2, 3 and 4 are still in-work, albeit slowly, slowly.
