Sir Harry Wildair by George Farquhar (1677 - 1707).

This sequel to the Jubilee [The Constant Couple, or A Trip to the Jubilee] appeared at Drury Lane in 1701, and was almost as popular as its predecessor. The smartness of the dialogue, the witty comment upon the fashions of the hour, the movement of the story, the vice and flippancy exhibited by its chief character, all specially appealed to the audience before whom it was produced, and the comedy had a run of several nights. 1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/dramaticworksge00ewalgoog#page/n260/mode/
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

hi Todd

I can help with PLing this one again if you wish. And any chance I could resume my role as Angelica?

May I claim the role of the Marquis? I think I can have a bit of fun with this. :)

Hi Todd
As people are taking the same roles as before, may I be Dicky again. Comic servant roles are always fun and he seems to have a bit more to say in this play.
Glad you are doing more Farquhar.

I don't know how young any of the woman's parts are since most of them were in the first play. But I am casting Gender neutral (and will change 1st post to say that).

Thanks, Todd

Hi Todd

I was just recording Angelica and there I read explicitely that SHE is disguised and impersonating Beau Banter, the younger brother of Sir Harry, to check on him and spread the rumour that she is dead.

Check the lengthy speech page 316 (toward the middle):
https://archive.org/stream/dramaticworksge00ewalgoog#page/n342/mode/2up

Did I get this correctly ? If so it might be a good idea that I read Beau Banter as well in Acts 2 and 3, with a darker voice, like a woman pretending to be a man. (I have experience in that, as I just finished playing Viola in 12th Night LOL)

But it's your call.

I missed that. If you would like you can read that part too in disguised voice. Let me know if that will be too much - since you explain (as you indicate on p316) that you Angelica were impersonating Beau, it could be that Beau can be done by a different reader if necessary.

Thanks, Todd

It's ok, I'd be willing to play that part as well :) He shows up only in two scenes, so that's ok.

I also noticed in the cast list on the first page, there is an actress name for Angelica but none for Beau Banter, so they were really supposed to be played by the same person. Good thing we noticed this early on.
