Gill, I won't be doing the last sections for a while. I was told that Audible won't accept a recording of a book if it's not available on Amazon. I ordered a copy of Volume 1 and have just received it. Luckily, it seems to be simply a reproduction of one of the original editions. So now I'm listening through all of my recordings against the book to make sure that they are a reasonable match (and adjusting sound quality to Audible's requirements as I go through).

When I'm done, I'll contact Audible to register this book, if I can, and will get the last sections done. Let's see if we can stop at least one of those people from profiting from our work!

EDIT: (17th May) I'm listening at 30% increased tempo. The printed book that I have seems to be the same edition that I've been recording from. I've just finished section 4 (ending on page 21). I'm keeping a note of corrections that I need to make; I'll sort them out when I've checked Audible's requirements.

It's lucky that I've been making that check. I've just found a block (four of the mini-essays) which both I and my PLer at the time missed.

From pdf 61 / text p 46 (Of Costermongers and thieves) to the end of pdf 63 /text p 48 (end of section Of the homes of costermongers).

I've recorded these and added them to the start of section 9 ... from 14 seconds from the beginning, to 15.16.

Could you check that for me, please, Gill?

PL for Section 9 - I'm afraid I decided to do the whole thing:

16:07 there's a break or jump which cuts off a word: "that they don't study". Beginning of line just over halfway down p53 Column 1.
20:17 "Brentford" said for "Brentwood" 9 lines from bottom of p 53 Column 2.
20:57 "Wanstead" said for "Wandsworth", line 8 of p54 Col 1.
26:17 "4s." said for "6s. 23 lines from bottom of p55 Col. 2.
28:27 "2s." said for "2s. 6d." Second complete paragraph p55 Col.1.
28:46 Loudish click through "uncertain" at end of next paragraph.

[For the amounts, these are extra to the errata you mentioned.]

There's also about 10s silence at the end, rather than 5s, with a sort of sigh after 5s.

Thank you very much for checking the whole thing, Gill. I've made the corrections, but the timings of my edits seem very different to yours, so I've given full details:-

[EDIT: looking at the timing difference ... 15 mins or so .. I wonder if you had a version of the section without the block that I had just added to the start?]

Rerecorded "That, they don't study." at 31.10. Sentence is 2/3 of way down para 3, col 1, pdf 68 / text 53

I've corrected Brentford to Brentwood. Sentence starts at 35.16. "I've been as welcome as anything to the soldiers in the barracks at Brentwood ..." Sentence starts line -10, col 2, pdf 68 / text 53

I've corrected Wanstead to Wandsworth. Sentence starts at 35.57. "The most frequented round is from Lambeth to Wandsworth, Kingston, Richmond, Guildford, and Farnham." para 2, col 1, pdf 60 / text 54

I've corrected 4s to 6s. Sentence starts at 41.70. "And that lasts until April, and we then make above 6s a week." para 4, col 2, pdf 69 / text 54

I've corrected 2s to 2s 6d. Sentence starts at 43.27. "In September, apples are vended and about 2s 6d a day made." para 3, col 1, pdf 70 / text 55

And I've just noticed your note about the click in "uncertain" ... I've no idea why I didn't see it earlier.

I couldn't hear it, but I did just edit out something that looked like a click on the sonogram and re-upload. The edit is at 43.49.

My apologies,
Peter

Don't apologise, Peter. That's fine.
I downloaded whatever version is in the MW. I never had that section before, so it can't be a cache issue on my computer.
I'll check the edits now and see if the timings are different.

Peter,
The recording I get from the MW hasn't got the new section in it. It starts from "Of the Dress of the Costermongers" (top of page 51).

Gill, I've found out what's happened. Some time ago, around the time you started on volume two, I realised that I had labelled my files as "londonlabour_ ..." instead of "londonlabour1_..." I uploaded renamed files, but the old ones are still linked to the MW. I'll check the files shortly and will ask annise how I can delete all the old ones (the first fifty!).

EDIT: It would be messier than I thought. I've asked Anne if she can arrange for that one particular file to be linked in the MW.

PL for Section 9:

Just one new thing -
2:19 the "ch" sound is chopped off “such” in “twenty such” p47 Col 1 line 7

Of the previous corrections, all fine except
"And that lasts until April, and we then make above 6s a week." It still says "4s." c. 41:17-22. para 4, col 2, pdf 69 / text 54

Thanks, Gill.

I've found another block missed on the first reading. So I have now added just over 16 minutes to the end of section 16. The new material runs from "Of Onion Selling in the Streets", col 2, PDF p 108 / text page 93 to the end of the section (just before "Of the stationary street sellers", PDF 111/ text 96. It starts at 40min 39 sec.

Section 16 starts at "Of Orange and Lemon Selling in the streets." pdf 102 / text 87

There were quite a few formal errata for the table near the end of the section (PDF 110 & 111):

PDF 110, col 1:
Green fruit - plums - total:- 6270 should read 6240
Green fruit - bullace - total:- 1960 should read 1950
Green fruit - red currants - total:- 15,300 should read 15,200
PDF 110, col 2:
Green fruit total:- 333,420 should read 332,400
PDF 111, col 1:
Green fruit total:- 333,420 should read 332,400
Vegetables total:- 292,000 should read 292,240
Gross sum for fruit and veg:- 626,420 should read 625,640
PDF 111, col 2:
Annual income of costermongers:- 2,087,270 should read 2,086,490
