Tommy and Grizel by J. M. Barrie (1860 - 1937).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/tommy-and-grizel-by-j-m-barrie/
This book continues Sentimental Tommy, also in the librivox catalogue. Tommy grows up and marries Grizle. But life are not only roses and raimbows. This book has all the elements of a good love story, but it is also a book about growing up and finding out your distingt voice in the world. ( Stav Nisser. )
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/11901
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Lynne,
During the project itself I will enter the assigned readers after Stav approves their claim. I am pretty sure that is the only thing about the new MW that is a problem.

Lynne, I am truely glad to work with you again. Leni is right, entering claims is my only problem with the new mw. I thank both of you in advance for your help.
This is going to be a lovely project (smile).

Hello Stav,
Tomorrow morning I am heading out of town for a week. I will have limited internet access. Lynne has agreed to help on keeping the MW updated while I am gone.
Be well,
Linny

I'd like to take Section 1. However, I have a couple of questions.

1. It says that Tommy has a Scottish accent. I'm not sure I can do that, or at least not consistently! Would it be okay if I read with my normal, flat midwestern American voice?

2. How does one pronounce Grizel? To rhyme with "gazelle," i.e., grih-ZELL, with accent on the ZELL? Or GRIH-zl, like "griddle" with a z instead of a d, accent on the GRIH? Or something else entirely?

Thanks,
Katherine

Hi
Katherine,
thanks for kicking this off. Chapter 1 is all yours. Have fun. I advise you to read with your normal accent. I truely believe it would be best. Your first pronounsiation of the name Grisel sounds wonderful. But I leave this too you. Have fun,
Stav.
