Hi Anne,

I made a claim on 3/6 that seems to have been missed?

Thnx!

Hi Anne,

I can take those 3 open sections to try and help finish this off. (17,56,57)

A couple questions:

On page 111 there is a very long footnote, would you like that read?

On pages 300 and 301 there are a bunch of blank spaces where I am assuming parts of the letters were missing. How do you want these read? .... just go from word to word leaving a pause, or do you want me to say something here?
Thank you that would be great - I've made the claims, back soon with the answers.

p111 I wouldn't read either of the footnotes. My idea with this is that it's a rare chance to have a glimpse of how the first Europeans saw things, not that they were right or wrong. And not that what they wrote might not have been self-censored.

300,301 are from his journal The fragments about the actual journal are not much use but the first "paragraph " continues the previous page story and the last finishes it.
I'll seek advice about the in-between bits - I'm leaning toward reading something like. " Here the journal has been damaged and is not readable" but that breaks the no added bits and all text. I will send you a PM after I've consulted

Awesome!

Thanks Anne.

I've got section 17 all recorded and had left the footnote out, so I can get that one uploaded tonight!

Will wait to see what your final answer is with the others!

Thank you
just for the record , Ava and Tricia have come up with a plan that I think will be readable
At the botttom of page 299 there is a footnote explaining there is no complete copy so if you read that, maybe at the end of the first paragraph on page 300,
then read
and I tied round her neck a red silk handkerchief, which delighted her exceedingly.{footnote} ["blank portion."]
All of the party ["blank portion"]
and we all went in the Captain's boat to the mouth of the river, and reached the ["blank portion".]
16th February. By daylight this morning we were visited on board by four of our own tribe, in Mr. Batman's whale-boat. The natives appeared much pleased with their visit and surprised at the appearance of the vessel. They remained on board about a quarter of an hour, when having obtained a supply of biscuit, they left us. At [blank] o'clock, the vessel was under weigh ["blank portion"]
and proceeded towards the sea.
the exact wording of the "blank portion" could be changed if you have a better idea "damaged portion " "lost portion" but the blank seems an easy short possibility

That was quick. Thank you :D

There are 3 orphans :( - 1 very small (16) and 2 about 4300 words ( the readers have not responded). I based the original word counts on page numbers but when I looked hard at these there were so many tables and pictures with blank backs that the word count has decreased greatly. There are many proper names but remember, at the time he wrote, Victoria was a state in which the settlers came from everywhere and so anyway is probably correct :D

Any volunteers will receive double the usual pay rate and my undying regards :D :D
