    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/55538
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

      Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

I'll set this up :)

ETA:
I think the MW is all ready to be populated. I shortened the filename -- you might want to fix the intro/outro so it makes sense. :) Do you need a DPL?

ETA:
Here is a link to the hathi version identical to your pdf (not everyone can see it, but you can provide both this and the PDF, if you like). http://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015008447735;view=1up;seq=5 :)

Awesome! :) Let's stay here for another day before we move anywhere. Would you please check that the information (and "section title") for the first section is correct? Great job attacking this long book!

Hi. Would it be possible for me to do section 1?

I am relatively new, but I feel that I can do well with this. Along those lines, we are not required to read the bibliographical notes along the bottom of the pages, right?
Thank you for your consideration.

Assigned. Thank you. Regarding the footnotes - Its up to your discretion if you feel that including the footnote adds value to the text or not (but they mainly just seem to be references to the source of his statements).

Hello again.
Thanks for section 1. I seem to be having difficulties printing a copy of the work. I have tried with both the original and the pdf file . I printed a copy of a single page, but even it took a while. Is it just me?
Also, with regards to production, do you want chapter or section as introduction? And do you want quotes read as quote/end quote or read as just text?
Sorry for all the questions, but I think it would be best to get it straightened out now as opposed to re-recording it later.
Thanks for the help.

The file is pretty large (319 pages) and the pdf takes some time for me too. I'd just download it and work offline.
The intro headings are set out in the 1st post. I've changed the font colour to green so they're a little different.
No - I don't see the need to use "quote/end quote" in your reading. Its not going to add much value I think (but I'm also open to other comments.)
Agreed on getting things sorted out beforehand.
Let me know if you have any questions - but I also appreciate your input as a reader. I have no specific preference in doing things.

Hello again. I am embarrassed to say that I have yet to begin my assigned section. I have been trying to build myself a quiet spot ( or a studio, if you prefer ) so that between my noisy neighbors and the new puppies, I have a quiet spot to record. I assure you that I have not forgotten, but if time is of the essence, I can knock it out fairly quickly. If, however, you're really in a time crunch....
I noticed that there are, as yet, no other assigned sections, so I feel reasonably safe in putting it aside for a moment.
Let me know if that's a problem. Thank you.

Carteki,

I am interested in reading Section 6, but in the linked version it seems to begin on p. 54 and to end on p. 74.

My best,

Pam

Pam,
You are correct - the page numbers are given for the PDF (downloadable) version.
I've updated the MW for your claim.
