OK, I have listened to your one minute test, you have a great reading voice! There are a couple of technical issues that need to be fixed.

Your recording is in stereo, we need it in mono. If you are using Audacity, there are two things you need to do. To fix this recording, go to the box on the left side of your recording. Click the down arrow right next to the name of the recording and then click Split Stereo Track. Delete one of those tracks, then click the down arrow on the track left and click Mono. To fix this for future recordings click Edit, then Preferences at the bottom of that menu. In Devices, change Channels to (1) Mono.

The second issue is the Bit Rate. Your file's bit rate is 192 kbps, we need it to be 128 kbps. To fix this, go to File, then Export File, in the box that opens on the bottom right click Options. The select 128kbps. That will also fix the bit rate for future recordings.

The last issue is the volume. The volume is currently 93.4 dB, we need it to be around 89 dB, with an acceptable range of 87-91 dB. To fix that, click Effects, then Amplify, and amplify by -4 dB to get the file to our target.

Please make these changes and upload again under the same file name.

Thank you! How bout this: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/1mintest.mp3

It's very quiet. Am I supposed to amplify it or something?

The volume is 89.2 dB, which is perfect! Now the file is mono, but the bit rate is still not what we need it to be. It is currently 120 kbps Variable, it needs to be 128 kbps. You are almost there! Could you try one more time to fix the bit rate and upload again? So very close!

I just took the file and changed it from variable to constant.

Now the bit rate has been fixed, but the recording is in stereo again, and the volume is too at high 93 dB. Try to fix the stereo issue, then deamplify by 4 dB, and then upload that one. I promise, we will get this!

Ok, I think one of these should work:

This one is recorded in Audacity: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/1mintestv2.mp3

And this is the first one from Garageband: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/1mintestv3.mp3

The Audacity test is the one that passes muster! The volume is a little low at 86.7 dB, but I am not going to worry about that. I think I read somewhere that GarageBand is difficult to change to mono, since people use it for recording music. But, if you stick with Audacity, you should not have any problems at all (the volume issue you can tweak as you go along), so I am giving you the OK to record. Have fun! :D
