I don't normally like poetry, but I enjoyed this one too. It seems to express to me the sillyness that happens to people when they are in love. A great piece of text for me to do my first recording!

Very nice, Robert! About the only suggestion I'd make is to try to make it a little louder - probably something better done by adjusting levels and microphone position then by actually speaking louder. The reading itself was very good.

Thank you for the feedback, Chip. I'm using AudioRoom for software, so it was an easy matter to increase the volume. This I did by 250% and uploaded the enhanced version to my ftp site. I hope it is not TOO LOUD now!

Anyway, I wasn't surprised by your comment-- I had already suspected that the hardware I'm using was not giving me good throughput. I have a Logitech USB combo headset and mic. It's okay but more suited for VOiP applications than for sound recording.

The problem with the model I have is that the mic boom is fixed length (short) and while it swivels about the right headpone, it is not bendable or otherwise adjustable. So the mic stays off and back from the corner of my mouth. I don't get those good recording waves and troughs unless I remove the headset and put the mic in front of my mouth.

Well, that's the way it goes. I could keep adjusting volume in software but I'm hoping that the new Plantronics headset I will be getting early next week will be a better recording solution than the Logitech.
