Alice in Wonderland, Retold in Words of One Syllable by J.C. Gorham ( - 0).

This book is now in our catalog at https://librivox.org/alice-in-wonderland-retold-in-words-of-one-syllable-by-jc-gorham/
The well known and delightful tale of Alice in Wonderland but retold in simpler language. All the characters are there, even the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter. Note that even though the title says 'words of one syllable', there are quite a few two and even multiple syllable words which the author divides into smaller bites by using dashes. Don't let this bother you. The book is well written and would be an excellent choice for all listeners and for those for whom English is not their first language. ( summary by phil chenevert)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/19551
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

NOTE: Many longer words are broken into syllables; just ignore the dashes in there and read the word as it is supposed to sound.

I see you got Audacity working, that is great. Also, you have a very nice, clear voice which will make for some wonderful recordings I can tell. Most of your tech specs are fine but there are two things I would like you to change, make another recording (call it test 2 or something) and upload again:

1. Change it from stereo to mono
2. Increase the volume. Yours is at 80 dB and we aim at 89 dB. It is best to increase the volume going in somehow like on your mic or in the audacity volume slider instead of just amplifying it afterwards.

I have a video on setting your tech specs with covers the stereo/mono thing (I think) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqmCOxOs_pM
And one on using the Audacity file to see how approximately if a good volume is going in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqmCOxOs_pM

There is some background noise in your recording and I would do some noise reduction if it were mine but this is not urgent, just to keep in mind. So, please incease volume and make it mono and submit another recording, OK? Ask if anything is unclear or confusing. Image

Nope. It is still in stereo (two tracks) and the volume is still low. Are you sure you uploaded the right file? If you do it again, please name it test3, OK? Don't worry, you will be recording very soon. Image
