I'm interested in Section 11--but I have a question about reading the call outs and the photos.

on Figure 3.3-1

would I read: "figure three point three dash 1..there are 22 panels, etc

and then, on page 57. there is a caption box/call out? with 5 pictures and a drawing...would I just read: Space Shuttle Wing leading edge structural system--or read the caption in blue at the bottom which basically rephrases it. (it's set inside the "LEFT WING AND WING LEADING EDGE" box.

anyway, if you could give me a few pointers, I want to claim it.

I'd want you to read the shaded box on page 55, "Reinforced Carbon Carbon (RCC)" but not the photo captions. In general, skip the photo and diagram captions.

The shaded box on page 57, you'd read the main text in the box and just ignore the drawing captions and the caption for the whole box of drawings. But, to be inconsistent, I think it would be OK to read the caption on the diagram on the right, about how the aluminum melts at 1200 degrees, etc. You could read that right after finishing the main part of the shaded box text.

Does that make sense?
