Here's 08 Sonnet (1:08). https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/poems_08_meynell.mp3

I'm starting to think I need to buy another mic. Let me know if this reading doesn't sound good. I have no tender feelings to hurt. :D

thank you daniel :)

i find that recording is like, say, tennis. you learn to play with the racquet you got from a neighbor or cousin, but when you discover a taste for tennis and get better at it, you are going to want to buy a fancy expensive one. it is the same with microphones for recording -- but luckily a really good mic costs a fraction of the price of really good tennis gear :D

Hi Daniel

the poem is very nicely read, you have an "even-levelled" voice, which is a pleasure to listen to. Also no errors and volume ok, so I will mark it as PL ok.

As for your microphone, I am probably not the right person to ask there. To me it sounded fine though.

Hello,

Can I claim: 10- 'A letter from a girl to her own old age'; 17 - Parted; 20 - Sonnet in February; 29 - Sonnet, Spring in the Alban Hills ?

This will be my first proper recording post-one minute test, so please bear with my ineptitude! :

Hello Lucy

I’ve taken the time now to listen to your first recording. I like your calm voice, it’s excellent for reading sonnets, in my opinion. You have read no textual mistakes, so that’s perfect as well. Well done. :)

At one point though, starting at 0:30 minutes, in the sentence “I keep this time, even before the flowers” I hear two little thumps, maybe you moved the microphone there ? You could maybe try to re-read the sentence to take the thumps out.

Another thing that you would have to insert is the end disclaimer which is totally missing in your recording. At the end of the poem, you should say: "End of poem. This recording is in the public domain." And then leave the 5 seconds of silence.

Could you please re-upload the new recording with the same filename, that way it overwrites the old file.

For the moment I have no access to checker to see about the volume, but I will check that tonight.

Thanks, and looking forward to your other poems.

Sonia
