Thank you Kathleen.

I'm not sure what has happened here. The recording is showing a stereo track with a different soundtrack on each level - never seen it before.

If I change the track to mono, then the volume drops by 3db, but it does fix the clipping. I would run the compressor option before changing the volume to try and even out all the spiky bits, because if you "normalise" the volume via ReplayGain it will be clipped again. It is always better to check the adjustment needed via ReplayGain "analyse" and then change it using the Effect/Amplify function as this will highlight any potential clipping. See the bits under "Compress & Amplify" in Basic Editing 101 video video for more explanations.

Please resubmit when these are done.

Thanks

Hi Kathleen! In this case, if your audacity copy is in mono, perhaps there was a glitch at exporting; check the levels on the left ( +/- and L/R sliders) that they are completely centered, and export again. Or if your audacity copy is in stereo, too, you can easily change it from menu "Tracks" -> "Stereo track to mono" and re-export.

Thank you.
There is an inserted phrase "an anthropological tea" at 3m14s
"The baby is rocked to sleep every night" at 4m18s
"poor Dick Dawkins isn't really taken care of at all" at 5m48s
It seems that you've read the image titles at those times.

Just for noting - there is clipping at 4m06s and 4m48s. If you use the compressor before adjusting your volume you'll even out the spikes on the waveform graph.

Here's #12--Some Domestic Inventions

(I know the title in the Magic Window says "Intentions"---and the chapter in the Chapter list of the book says "Intentions"---but the Chapter Heading says "Inventions"--and The Idiot definitely has some ideas for inventions!
