You don't have to follow along with the text, but if you happen to hear something that doesn't make sense, like I might have said the wrong word, feel free to comment on that. That's above-and-beyond for normal Proof-Listening.

My tech settings and volume should be OK. I've done this a while.

sskim - pmchaffie said he'd PL these for me. If you've started, that's OK - I guess two sets of ears are better than one. But if not, he DID contact me first, albeit privately.

Hi!
This is the first project ever I would like to volunteer for. Can I take sections 15 and 16 to start?

I received a computer mic for Christmas and tonight I spent a few hours poking around the instructions, setting the recording specs, and doing a few test recordings for myself. Tomorrow night I will attempt to do the upload of my 1 minute test for review.

I'm a lifelong resident of Illinois and it is really cool to learn more about the people and places that shaped this state.

Welcome! I have you in for those sections. Definitely wait until your 1-minute test is OK'd before starting in on this.

How would you like to be credited in the catalog? There are places for a catalog name (some use a nickname or forum name, some their real name) and a personal web site or blog, if you have one. CLICK HERE for an example of what I'm talking about. I recommend using whatever name you say (if any) when you say, "recorded by [your name]" as that's how listeners will look for you. (Keep in mind that prospective employers, classmates, etc. can also find you using the catalog name, so be cautious if privacy might be an issue.)

tricia - i've not forgotten the other two sections i agreed to PL just getting over holiday travel hubbub. i should have them done in short order - then i can get back to my assigned reading.

Hi,
I finally found some quiet time as the nearby airport's holiday traffic died down to record and upload my 1 minute test.

Hopefully it gets approved soon so I can start planning and working on this book!

Hiya!

My 1 minute test was approved today, and this evening I was studying the text and planning a "script".
Wow, those footnotes are a doozy! I have one that is a page long in itself!

I get how to read footnotes, but how do we say words in (parentheses) ...?

My next step is to verify the French pronunciations I haven't heard before. If I am still unsure I'll post here.
