Thank you. Your voice is good and most of your tech specs are fine but there are two things I would like you to change, make another test and put the link here. Call it test 2 or someothing like that.
1. you have too much background noise. Please run Noise Recuction on the track at about 15 db. Here is a video explaining how to do it with Audacity. If you have another program, let's talk.

2. Your DC offset is really a lot. This is easy to fix also with Audacity: Effects>Normalize>Remove DC offset. Do not check the box about automatic increasing gain.

Let me know if you have any questions. :D

Hi! I'd like to claim Chapter 6 - Rabbit and the Indian Chief...

Also, the name I'd like to appear under in the LibriVox catalog is Anastasia Kostromin.

Thanks

All right Ray, you get an OK on that one and are cleared to record. Note that you still have some DC offset which is no problem really, and a lot of low background noise (which I would try to get rid of by using a high pass filter at about 100 Hz) but you are clear and understandable and it is in the range below hearing really. So have fun and record lots and lots. I have a video about high pass filters somewhere linked in my sig if you are interested.
EDIT: did you post this 1 minute test in the Listeners wanted forum?

Welcome aboard Jimmer and we appreciate having you here. As an experienced voice over guy you should have no problem but we like everyone to submit a 1 minute test to be sure they have their recording set up compatable with our standards. I have assigned that section to you but before you record it, please make and upload that 1 minute test I mentioned above.

Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test

(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)

I also recommend Getting To Know our Forums Getting To Know Our Forums. ask if anything is unclear, OK?

What catalog name would you like? (not your user name) most of us use our real names but it is up to you and can be the same as your user name.

Hi Phil,
I did do a one minute test previously, but did not get a reply back. I realized that I think I have to provide the link on this as well:

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_Jimmerprice.mp3

Also you mentioned catalog name. Please advise. Not sure what that is.

Thanks!

Yeah Jim, you definitely got talent. Your test is fine, all tech aspects are on the button and you have an OK to record. One note to keep in mind is that your test is a bit louder than we aim at. Our goal is 89 dB, yours is at 93 dB so dialing it back a bit would be nice but that should not stop you from recording lots and lots for LV. Ask if anything is unclear or befuzzling. I will make your catalog name as requested. Image happy Mardi Gras from Louisiana!

EDIT: did you post this link in the Listeners Wanted forum? If so I will need to go mark it OK there.

Thanks Phil,
I can definitely pull it back a hair. In fact, I kind of noticed that after I sent it and realized it was a little hot. I did not post this in Listeners Wanted forum. I will try and take care of that.
Thanks,
Jim
