Must be some of that high-stakes Silicon Valley poker I hear about.
Algy, do you think the final presentation of this would benefit from the table being grouped into price-ranges, say, cheap (under $100), medium, expensive?

Ruth might like to comment on the price list suggestion. Of course, it would have to include the cost of the interface and XLR cable where these are used.

Err, no, the first part was a quote from the previous post, Algy. I only own one mike.

Seems a good idea to me, as long as I don't have to work it all out . Perhaps put them in approximate order of cost, and add something in the summary like "Sections 1 - 10 are recorded with equipment costing under $xx; Sections 11 - 30 with equipment costing between $xx and $xxx" etc. Or maybe grouping internal mics together first.Ruth might like to comment on the price list suggestion.

Sorry, SOTE, for the misunderstanding.SonOfTheExiles wrote:Err, no, the first part was a quote from the previous post, Algy. I only own one mike.
MW has been amended.
OF course, you could go out and buy two more microphones, as many folk have done.....
Cheers
The best price guide would probably be Amazon (US), although prices for equipment do vary from country to country.RuthieG wrote:Seems a good idea to me, as long as I don't have to work it all out .Ruth might like to comment on the price list suggestion.
Of course, such an exercise could result in a sales boost for the Blue Yeti - at $US80 there are few other microphones which can compare with it for value.
Perhaps, Blue and Samson should be paying us for all the nice things that we have said about their products over the years...
Cheers

Both readings are PL OK.
I think that the AKG P220 sounds the best of your six.

Well, it can only ever be approximate, of course. I have never seen the Yeti at less than £100 here, which is equivalent to about $150. There's no point quoting actual prices in the project summary, though I suppose one could include a link to a Wiki page (if anyone ever updates it). Perhaps just indications of relative pricing - perhaps least expensive, average, most expensive? The best price guide would probably be Amazon (US), although prices for equipment do vary from country to country.

I'd love to participate in this project, if only to prove to prospective listeners that a setup like mine can still work in an age of ever-changing, constantly-improving technology. I'd like to record a short excerpt from Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe using an Olympus DM-420 digital voice recorder. I bought it in 2010, but it still works well for my recording purposes!
