Chapter VI is PL OK!

I find it interesting that this "little French girl" is the intrepid pilot of their airplane, like many early women aviators who did astounding things, but somehow we turn to her to make the hot chocolate. Indeed, does the young man not know how to brew up some chocolate? It is clear Danby is falling for her, but I'm guessing when she says "friend" that's what she means.

That does sound idyllic, being snowed in in a mountain cabin, except for the snow part. I guess there still are rugged types who live in the wilderness who spend snowed-in winters doing lots of creative things. I'm afraid I'd get cabin fever. There are places along the northern California coast that are a lot quieter that would suit me well for an extended stay. Places where it gets pretty cold in July, and foggy. Rugged, beautiful beaches, but with surf so heavy and dangerous you just take in the beauty and keep your jacket on. It's odd, but living here just 15 miles from some wonderful beaches, we seldom go. They get crowded and the water is generally never warmer than the low '70's, too cold for my arthritis.

Ah, well,
Don

Here's chapter 7 for you.

My goodness, it's been too long since I edited and posted. Will try to be better about that. Between the typical winter blah's, dental work and migraines it seems time just slips away. On the happy side, I outgrew my little craft desk and added a four foot table to make it an "L" shape. Boy did I need that space. Now I'm feeling creative again. And today they did impressions for my partials and I will have a fitting in two weeks or so. Nearly there. I have dreams of big salads and pizza slices. Yumm.

Chapter 07 is PL OK!!

Winter blahs, indeed. It is raining here today, desperately needed. Our friend El Nino is gracing us with some rain. But we are in a years-long drought, and even a wet winter won't make up the difference. We only average about 9 inches of rain a year, anyway. But you should see the idiots on the freeway slide around when it does rain. Nobody told them about hydroplaning, or it's been so long they forgot. I would love more space in my garage pottery studio, but I've really got to get rid of some large items before it gets less cramped. Craig's list, I guess. I'm glad you've got a bigger workspace. Why do we always need more space?

And here are two more.

I feel sorry for TX and CA with the drought. People do forget hydroplaning. We who ride two wheels are very careful with it. Nothing worse than going around a corner, sliding on the wet road and nearly dropping a bike.

We always want more space. I think that we want to try so many different techniques, products, new ideas etc...and next thing we know, we are moving piles around.

My bedroom closet shelf is half full of baby yarn! Online it costs $ 7.95 and at the store it's still $5.97 and they had it on sale for $ 4.97 so I went a bit crazy. I figured the sale was being done before the price increased. So I picked up 18 skeins and that will keep me busy making baby hats until the middle of next year.

Chapters 8&9 are PL OK!

The fair they are all headed off to is the 1933-34 world's fair that ended on Halloween in 1934. The site is still a park, much as Balboa Park in San Diego is. Balboa was the site of two world's fairs, and the interesting buildings that remain are largely left over from the expositions. Every year on the first weekend in December, the park and all its museums are thrown open for free, and a huge celebration called December Nights (used to be called Christmas on the Prado before that wasn't PC), with international food booths, musical programs, wandering minstrels, craft booths, and all sorts of stuff, attended by hundreds of thousands over the two days and nights. It almost had to cease a number of years ago due to the very high liability bond required to put it on, but one of the Indian tribes stepped in and has sponsored it since then. They take the foolish white man's money at the casino and mall and then give a little of it back, I guess. I reckon Minnesota native Americans have casinos, too?

Hi, Don. Here's section 10.

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/gypsyflight_10_snell.mp3

I can't believe I forgot this. My plan is to record all the Roy J snell books.
They have long been favorites of mine.

If you can't listen let me know. I will understand.

Thanks, Dawn

Chapter 10 is PL OK! We've got our flying wedge going again and nobody better get in our way. The flying wedge was an old football maneuver in which the offensive side massed into a wedge in front of the quarterback and shoved their way through the defense. People at the time of our story would have known what it was, but the idea is pretty clear. Don't try this at home, or someone will get crushed. Maybe the spy lady's earring was snagged by a passing flying wedge.

Hi Don, Here's section 11 to PL.

Strange that I knew what a flying wedge was. I remember seeing old football footage on it. Seemed pretty effective.

I don't know anyone that goes to the world's fair, well they are called expo's now I guess. We have such a great state fair here. Haven't been there in years. It's about 4 hours from me now and the expense is through the roof.

Chapter 11 is PL OK.

I've never been to an exposition, either. My grandmother went to the Seattle exposition when the space needle opened in the '60's. There have been two expositions in our own Balboa Park in San Diego, and most of the buildings in the park are from the last one in the '30's. We have the county fair in Del Mar. We ought to catch that again this year. Get some cinnamon rolls and roasted corn.

I think Madame Gypsy Lady saw more than she is saying. It's an ominous portent. Gotta have some ominous portents before a good story is done.

And, here's chapter 12.

Florence is on her way to flying in a plane and becoming
a novice detective.

PL OK!

I see some inevitable couplings, presaged by who flew off with whom and who took whom down a couple of notches on the ground. Or maybe our author will use the time honored tool of surprise to fool us all. Wait, we have to pair up the Gypsy flier girl to someone. This brew is just a-stirring, not done yet.

Thanks. Really looking forward to your starting Sorcery club. Between card making and baby hat crochet I've been listening to books a lot. Thank goodness that the library has many that will work on my Kindle Fire. And I re-listened to Little Princess for probably the 20th time. Kara Shallenberg is a favorite reader of mine.

Hope you are having a great summer!

I started The Sorcery Club. There should be two sections posted. I wondered if you had gotten notices.
