The Secret Power by Marie Corelli (1855 - 1924).

This Marie Corelli novel falls in the realm of fantasy and science fiction with a steampunk element. The story centers around Morgana Royal, a powerful woman who invents an airship, and Roger Seaton, her love interest who has control of a destructive power. She explores her capacity to love, as well as his. Moreover, she questions whether she is of this world and this time, or some other realm altogether. ( Amy Gramour)

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/3831
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

This look like a very interesting story.
May I take sections 1, 2 and 3? I can probably record more, but I don't want to risk taking more than I can handle at one time.

Hi Jared,
That is a good strategy. It is easy to overclaim and then get bogged down. Sections 1, 2, and 3 are yours.
Thank you for starting this off.

Hello, I'm a newbie and would like to try my hand at chapter 8. I'm happy to be listed Leena Emsley.
I have a question - how do I make sure I pronounce names in the same way as everyone else in the other chapters?

Hi Leena,
8 is yours. I don't expect much variation on the name pronunciation. Listeners will know. If you are worried about one, feel free to post and get some feedback on the pronunciation.
Have fun!
Amy :)

Hey, I'm not going to finish this book. Read the first couple chapters aloud just to get a feel for it and at least so far it's just not interesting to me. I took some time to think about whether I would keep going and I've decided not to. Hope I'm wrong and it gets way better.

So just to be clear, I'm not going to read chapter 7 for this book and you can remove me from the list. Thanks, and sorry for the extra effort.

Don't spend too much time worrying! The point is to enjoy yourself - and Corelli can be gloriously fun. I'm looking forward to proof listening to your recording!

Hi FCMendel,
I will reopen it.
Thanks for letting me know.
I hope you find something you like better.
