Curly and Floppy Twistytail (The Funny Piggie Boys) by Howard R. Garis (1873 - 1962).

This delightful book can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/curly-and-floppy-twistytail-the-funny-piggie-boys-by-howard-r-garis/
The adventures of two little pig boys and their mom and dad. And their baby sister of course. "Once upon a time, not so very many years ago, in the days when there were fairies and giants and all things like that, there lived in a little house, on the edge of a wood, a family of pigs. Now these pigs weren't like the pigs, which perhaps you children have seen on most farms. No, indeed! They were just the nicest cleanest, sweetest pigs you ever dreamed of—not that pigs on a farm can't be clean, if they want to, but, somehow or other, no one seems to have time to see that they are clean." A wonderful series of short stories just right for reading to the little ones at bed time or anytime. ( Phil chenevert and the author)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5262
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

May I have sections 1, 2 and 3?
I am AKMorton in the forum.
I am new and have not recorded before, but just passed my 'test'.
Please know that I am willing to work at this to get it right. I welcome helpful hints and will repeat or do whatever it takes.

I would like to do more sections! This is fun! May I record 4 through 6?

I'll wait until I see my name assigned in the Magic Window before I upload anything.

A big welcome to LibriVox Kathleen. I have assigned those 3 sections to you to record. I suggest doing the first one and uploading it to get some quick feedback before doing the other two, but it is up to you of course. Enjoy all of them. It is the editing that causes most people to ask questions so don't hesitate to post here for help.
EDIT: How would you like to be credited in the catalog? What name? Most of us use our real names but it is up to you.
EDIT #2: I have assigned 4-6 to you also.

Thank you!
Here is the link for the first story: https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/curlyandfloppytwistytail_01_garis_128kb.mp3

It is 9 minutes and 25 seconds long. I felt like I read pretty slowly, so let me know if it is too slow or whatever!

I hope I did the beginning and end and upload and the naming and noise reduction and all that correctly....

Please do add me to the list with my real name, just as most folks. That is Kathleen Morton.

WHOOO HOOOO! This is tons of fun! I love this book.

I am just back and very happy to see your first upload. I will put it into the Magic window immediately for our proof listener to check out .
EDIT: I listened to a bit of this and want to encourage you to keep recording, it sounds just right to me. our DPL will check it out completely in a bit but to me your style and voice are just perfect; keep on going. Image

Hi Kathleen! Welcome to Librivox! :D Your recording sounds really good, I don't think you read too slowly at all. It is PL OK!

Just one thing for future recordings - could you try to keep the silence at the beginning to 1 second or less, and the silence at the end to about 5 seconds? (Unless the recording is over 30 minutes, then you add 10 seconds.) You don't need to change it in this recording, just keep that in mind for the future :D

Thank you!
Rachel

Thank you for the encouragement Phil!

I would like to read more stories in this book. May I have sections 7 to 15 also?

Thank you for your proofing, Rachel. I will certainly try to shorten the silences at the beginning and the end.
