As my first attempt at book coordination, I've chosen another one book I've always meant to read, but never quite got around to. It's surprisingly easy to read, and hopefully should provide lots of fun for everyone -- there are certainly enough chapters!

Thanks for getting this started, Jon -- looks good! I'll grab a chapter after I've caught up with some of my backlog :)

I'd be happy to take a couple of chapters -- any preference which ones?

(Was thinking I should go for a book I *haven't* read, but this one seems to need people.)

sherry and tis, thanks for the claims. wendyg, claim any chapters that take your fancy! I don't think we're going to get fully subscribed for a little while yet...

I've finished chapter 1... but as I'm coordinating the book myself I don't have to send it to anyone! If any of you would like a listen, I've uploaded a 16kbit Speex encode here. Constructive comments appreciated!

hi jon, just an unsolicited tip on coordinating: when someone says "I'll take whatever chapter you like," the best thing is just to assign them a chapter. Being coordinator makes you king. or vice regent at least, so rule with an iron, but fair, fist ... makes things easier...hugh.

Okay :). wendyg, you have been allocated Chapter 4. Let me know if you still want another chapter when you've finished working on that one.

While we're claiming, I'll claim Chapter 5.

I haven't actually read Vanity Fair, although I have read all of the spin-offs from it, and My Fair Lady is my favorite musical :)

I'd love to do Chapter 7, if I may. My schedule is pretty flexible, so I should be able to finish it by next week.
