Oops... that was mine. I accidently posted a file with a problem... I thought I fixed it. Where did you get the file, thistle? The file on my server (gordmackenzie.com) should be correct (but the one I originally posted there had a problem)...

Oh sure enough, the file I have has the little error.

Want to send me the good one, Gord? I'll hold off on the Big Irreversible Upload until we get this resolved.

Honestly though, we've released files with similar little errors. But as long as you caught this one we might as well upload the fixed version.

As a matter of fact, since we have such a great team of proof-listeners, maybe I should wait until they've checked over the whole book. What do you think?

in chapter 5-6, there is awkward break at about 14:50-14:55 ... it seems minor... but I thought I'd mention it while we're at it.

Hmm, I don't hear that. Are we in the same place in the same file? Ch 5-6 14:50-14:55 "his eyebrows were very black and moved readily, and this gave him a look of some temper." ?

But yuck that was when I still had the background squeak.

Ah. yes. Perhaps Ivan forgot to edit his file, or accidentally submitted the wrong version?

This is a rather delicate situation. It they were simply little reading errors or tiny glitches (like the one in ch 7-8), I'd be inclined to let them go. But he obviously planned to edit out them, so maybe we should give him a chance to do so? I've emailed him.

We need to be careful not to expect perfection -- a little mistake here and there really doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things (IMHO). Yet, we want to give people the chance to submit their best effort.

oh, glad to hear that "perfection" is not the main goal hehe... my own recordings are definitely far from that.

I hope my notes here are not read as harsh... the small items I'm pointing out are simply missed edits... definitely NOT flaws in anyone's reading... I cannot say enough good about these awesome contributions!

no problem, we're listening to it anyway for our own pleasure =)

also, a couple of the files (I don't recall which ones off-hand) do not have the full Librivox disclaimer... i'll leave that to you though.

i'm not sure if something went wrong with my download of chaper 25/26, or if it was somehow cut off near the end. you might want to double check it.

Yup, 25-26 is cut off. Gord, would you send me an un-cut-off version? :)

Thistle, you're awesome.

we've finished listening to the chapters of Treasure Island... It sounds like it was a fun one to read aloud too. We certainly enjoyed hearing it!

Great job everyone =)

Argh! Both of my files for this one had problems. I'll look into what happened with 25/26 and post a corrected file as soon as possible.

My apologies. Thanks Thistle and Kara!
