Okay, kids, pirates and adventure on the high seas! Sign up below.

Chapters are roughly the same size, and two chapters seems like a reasonable chunk. If your assignment includes the first chapter of a 'Part' (namely, chapters 1, 7, 13, 16, 22, or 28), please insert the 'Part' title ahead of the chapter title. (For example: "Part Five. My Sea Adventure. Chapter Twenty-two. How My Sea Adventure Began.")

Taget completion date: November 15, 2005.

I'll take some later chapters, say 27-28.

Cheers,

I'm looking over chapters 7 and 8, possibly for recording this evening, but I'm wondering how you'd recommend reading a date with an obscured year, such as

January 17, 17--

Any suggestions?

i had that in childhood, and said: "eighteen hundred and something." not very elegant, but got the job done. better suggestions would be welcome.

That's an excellent way of doing it, because it still sounds like real words.

I think I had somehting like it in Frankenstein and said 'seventeen-blankty-blank' -- which is perilously close to the English gameshow with Les Dawson.

I have the same issue in chapter 1, which I intend to record Sunday, and I'm waffling between literally mumbling ("Seventeen mmmphphm") and saying "Seventeen-blank." Probably "Seventeen-blank."

Hugh wins the race! I wound up going to see the new Wallace & Gromit with my family yesterday, which I don't regret, but it means I'll be recording chapters 1 and 2 tonight instead of last night...

I'm up for chapters 9-10 as my first attempt at recording for LibriVox!

Out of curiosity, how is everyone pronouncing "Livesey?"

My dad, reader out-loud extraordinaire, pronounced it "LIV-zee" so that's how I'll say it, I guess :)
